Moto Guzzi V7 Racer

Moto Guzzi have just released the latest version of their V7 range, here in Oz. This one's called the Racer, & it really does look like one. Though with the same power output as the other V7s, it's not likely to be winning many races. But the reviews I've read say that the handling's been greatly improved, & consequently the bike can be ridden quite fast, if the revs are kept up. So it should give a Thruxton a run for the money in the twisties. It's certainly a worthy competitor in the looks dept.

Anyone tempted? (apart from MG Vig:D)

It is a great looking bike. But, I suspect my local Guzzi dealer isn't going to be in business long. Every time I go by, there is not a soul to be found. They also sell Hyosung. But, since they want full MSRP for the bikes, everyone is going to the huge Kaw/Suz/Yam/Honda/Aprillia/Victory dealer that gives big discounts.

I'm having the same problem with Guzzi dealers in my area (DC). I can't find any decent ones around for miles and miles! Disappointing as I'd like a close looks at those bikes.

:) I was admiring one at the dealers last weekend. It looks fab, but is a) very small, and b) very gutless. So I'm not at all tempted. I've never been keen on the small block motors, though. Now, if they built a similar looking bike using the big block motor,(a new LeMans) then that would be very tempting. Guzzisti the world over have been asking for such a bike, but, like a new big block Triumph Daytona, it doesn't seem to be forthcoming. It's a shame!

I don't think there is a Guzzi dealer within 300 miles of me (the four dealers within 200 miles all closed) and I'm in N. Florida. Too bad - as they are great bikes... That's why I have an older (pre-computer engine management) Lemans. Internet for parts and do my most of my own service and I use a private shop for tires and other stuff I can't do.

I have had a vicarious relationship with a couple of Guzzis since my brother is a fan. I hated his old LeMans cuz it had a weak battery and I spent one weekend as the de facto starter on the damned thing (ie. I pushed it).

So fast forward to the present and deal ol Brother scratched his itch and got another one via Flea-Bay, a 96 1100SP or whatever. He's had that one now for close to a month and he's just been fiddling with it... not once swinging a leg over the thing. Probably more my brother's fault as opposed to the bike, but IMHO if you're gonna get a bike that new by God ride it, then figure out what's needed.

Of course we're talking new here on the V7, but I'm not a Guzzi fan since I've had bad experiences in a vicarious way. My R90S was a far superior bike compared to the LeMans my brother had, even with my fat ass on it.
