It's been loads of fun being a part of this forum. I've had a great time learning about Triumphs and BSing with some of the nicest and funniest people I've had the privilege of "knowing."
SOMEDAY, I still hope to get a Triumph, but I simply could not have turned down this deal on a used .... Harley-Davidson!!! Harleys were always just outside my circle of desirable rides, especially coming from riding nothing but sport bikes and dirt bikes. When I decided I wanted to try something different, Triumph was my first choice. I was all ready to spend my tax return on a deposit and make payments for 3 to 5 years on something from Triumph, but couldn't decide if I wanted a cruiser or a T100. Then a few days ago I was searching Craigslist and saw a neighbor of mine selling a 2006 Sportster 1200 Custom for $6,500. Black cherry color with Python mufflers. I saw it and fell in love. He let it go for $5,750.
OH MY GOD, what a wonderful bike. How can you look at this bike and not drool. It's comfortable, has loads of torque (79 ft.-lbs.) and the sound with the aftermarket pipes (I put the baffles back in) is simply intoxicating. Yes, the brakes are "adequate," it doesn't like turning as much as I do — and I simply don't care. Riding this bike reminds me of why I fell in love with motorcycles in the first place: it's fun.
So, hope to see you all down the road someday. Ride safe and have fun.
