UK 'Dept of Transport' has put a new vid on TV.
I Know its not just a Triumph thing (but thought i would share it)... hopefully will do all bikers over here a bit of good.

Ok the second is awesome, funny but real!!! The first aint gonna make any difference because the other drivers have to look in the first place. I use to ride in Electric blue and bright yellow leathers. Im 6'5 and built like Arnold Schwarzenegger and make any bike look like a moped. Still people try to knock me off, Especially if im doing the speed limit or under. The only way they notice me is the staight through silencers, this is the best and only way as they cant help but look and complain about the racket!!!! ha ha!!! love my noise!!!

HI I Agree with CHRIS211083, the E U has made all our bikes sound very tame, and it is difficult for car drivers to hear bikes these days, 30 years ago you could hear bikes coming , not now, and if we change the silencers the law steps in, many new cars make more noise than bikes, but with TORs on my Bonny, if I think a car driver has not seen me a blip of the throttle makes them look, I think keeping the noise down costs lives!
All car drivers should be made to take some Motorcycle Training.

To me your replies (Chris211083 & g0bgb) about sound make a lot of sense.
I looked at the dft.gov website to see their explanation of the ad...
http://think.dft.gov.uk/think/focusa...&whoareyou_id=
This is cut/ paste of part of it...
The reason for taking this approach is that research uncovered by Dr David Crundall, of the University of Nottingham, shows that empathy with motorcyclists is important. Drivers with relatives who ride motorcycles have been reported to have fewer collisions with motorcyclists and have better observation skills in regard to motorcycles.
Qualitative research conducted by the Department for Transport also revealed that motorcyclists can seem quite alien to drivers, as their identities are often hidden behind safety helmets.
Without trying to be picky - I'm perhaps not surprised that people with biker relatives are more likely to 'think bike' - and the identity part (even more difficult if you have'nt seen them in the first place).
So. back to the beginning... yes i think your right about sound, it would get me noticed rather than ignored.
I can't resist putting up one more info vid called 'think! perfect day'... and promise I won't add any more.

But some drivers are beyond help, and we should fear for our lives,
while riding in a 30 zone , a lady pulled out in front of me from a side street, with no parked cars clear straight road, i avoided her and went on my way , we ended up in the same car park where she followed me into PC World, and began to blame me as it was all my fault she almost killed me, In the middle of the store in a clear loud voice two words
F*** off
I do hope she does not kill anyone else!

i Agree with the fact that some are past help! however as the video above shows its the bikers job to watch out for all these things, REASON...... because every other Fu*ker isnt!!! my girlfriend said to me the other day "you ride too fast through town" I then corrected her" no, i ride too aggressive through town". There is a difference, if i treat everyone like a Wank*r then when they arnt everything is good. However when they prove me right im already prepared. I advance loudly and quickly. And progress at the speed limit most of the time as Mrs Jones doesn't and usually travels at 25 in a 30 or 30 in a 40, ignoring everything around her in her own little bubble. Or the White Van man with his phone that some one must have glued to his head as its never brought down. Just stick it on speaker phone and regain 50% of your vision please!!!!
As For we should be scared for our lives! well, all i can say is if you knock me off then for your own safety reverse over me and finish me off because im a 6'5 Royal Marine Commando at 21stone and I WILL KILL YOU!!!!!!!

I'm just curious if Nick can explain who Helen is...
Ride like you're invisible, everybody.

so logically we'd be safer if they could see our faces which would be achieved by repealing the law mandating the wearing of safety helmets?
I wish they'd make up their mind
