Riding from Calgary to Vegas
In July - yes I know Vegas is hot in July LOL - I'm going to a convention in Vegas, but instead of flying, and getting strip searched, spending hours at the airport either end etc etc., I'm going to ride with a buddy.
Not sure if I'm going to take the sprint or the bonnie.
However:
What MUST SEES are on or close to any routes I might take to and from Vegas?
Any MUST RIDE roads?
This is the typical route:

Google maps is pretty optimistic.

I thought everyone was being strip searched at the border too. Guess it's just me.
Hope it's OK to go slightly OT here Haggis, but I'm very interested in which bike you ultimately decide to use. I ride a Bonnie but had planned to add a second bike such as the Sprint ST or the VStrom if my skills return to the point that I can tackle touring. Interesting that you are undecided. The Sprint seems like the obvious choice.
That trip to Vegas sounds like a dream come true. There is no way that I could do it after my multi year break from motorcycling (temporary insanity). Maybe one day ..... sigh

You're a mad impetuous fool Haggis!
Well done.

make sure you have a good summer jacket.
driving in the desert in the summer is quite horrid. the faster you go, the hotter you are. it feels like a convection oven.
but im a bit jealous, that would be a great ride

Thanks for all the kudos!
I've driven with the same guy from Calgary to LV in 17 hours (almost non-stop it felt like) in a rented Caddy! We took 2 days coming back
This time he'll be on his Rocket III Roadster (he's picking it up in March, lucky sod). And I plan on getting the big bore kit and new carbs before then! Otherwise I'll be on the Sprint.

Excellent ride north to south...should be very enjoyable. I have not gone in that direction on my bike as of yet. Photos I hope when you do it.

We have done that ride (in a car) a couple of times. I will ask hubby what routes we did and places we visited.

Glacier Park is a must see, but you may have already been there, since you're not all that far away in Cow-town...
