HD Radio ad .... Lame!
Listining to 102.5 classic rock yesterday in tampa heard an add for HD, it went something like this: We know everyone wants a real bike an HD so heres your chance to trade in all those Victorys Kawasakis, Hondas, yams..etc and get a real bike a Harley Davidson...... we will give you 500 more than its worth......you know this kind of crap pisses me off where do they get off thinking an HD is the only real...bike out there? I guess the 562 million in bail out money wasent enough of a kick in the nuts to us tax payers they have to insult any one who dosent ride there bikes.
I guess on good thing they did not mention Triumph, after all the crap they got from dissing Triumph in the Buell ad and the fact that Triumph sales are up and there down 40% they did not want to mention the name Triumph.

Sounds like things are pretty bleak over at HD. I like Harleys, having owned an FXDX for 6 years, and I hope they can turn things around, but it's gonna be tough. They haven't got the range or diversity that Triumph has, and they're so bloody expensive!

HD Ads and advertising
I received a flyer that looked very similar to the HD ad on the Triumph site the other day. They basically said the same thing on the flyer, as the radio ad you heard.
So Triumph's motto is "Go your own way", and as i looked at the bottom left of the ad, evidently the HD motto is " Screw it , lets ride".
Now you folks that ride HD's , I have no problem with that and you can ride whatever you wish but It makes me think what an inferior product. You look at it and say (do I really want to ride this thing, ahh "screw it lets ride".)
Your milage may vary with use.

No two ways about it, HD is an inferior product compared to a Triumph. They sell on nostalgia, patriotism, and lifestyle. I don't think this will be enough in the tough years to come.

HD Add
I've ridden a Harley since 1959. I am currently trying to sell my 06 FXDI so I can purchase a 2010 Thunder Bird. Does that not speak volumes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I recently sold my 2004 FXDXi to finance the purchase of a new Tiger. A few years ago, it would have sold quickly, and at a premium price. It was slow to sell, and I didn't get a very good price. Times are tough, my friend. I hope the situation is better where you are.

Sounds like a pretty lame ad. But I don't understand being upset about it.

ALL my buddies that ride big bad Harleys look at my little Bonnie and say "I would like one", but they never do and only spend more on HD merch. I guess they're afraid they'll be thrown out of the club....
