I really liked the original back in the day...I even read the book...
I liked Calibos and the stop motion work of Ray Harryhausen...

I didnt see Bubo the metal owl in the the new preview...that might be a good thing...

What do you think...other than Hollywood cant think of anything original and continues to remake movies...

I'm a fan of the original (and most of the Harryhausen movies). Unless the story line is significantly better (which I doubt) I can't see it equaling, let alone surpassing the 1981 version.

I don't know, the remake looks pretty bad-ass, you guys.

Ray Harryhausen is definitely a genius and I don't think stop-motion animation gets the recognition it deserves. The amount of talent needed to not only make the puppet but to animate it in a life-like way is just amazing.

I went to see this film Saturday...in 3D...

Id have to say it was different than the original...a different movie alltogether...
Save your money and see the regular version and not the 3D...1/2 the time I was looking over my glasses to get a better picture...
Hades was a cool charactor...
The tree bark people I didnt get and failed to see how they helped the story...
The Kraken...cool...Calibos...not so much...
Bubo was in it for about 2 seconds...

I think if you liked the original you may not like this one...
If you havent seen the first one the remake would be alright...

I would give it a "meh" rating...and wouldnt see it again...

Harryhausen was a fantastic effects guy. I love everything I've seen him do.

Haven't seen COTT; sounds like it's theaterworthy, though. If it gets enough "meh's" maybe I'll bump it down to watch at home status.

I'll probably see it or wait to rent it. I doubt I'll see it in 3D though, I'd rather see it the "old way". I saw Avitar in 3D because my kid wanted to see it that way, but those glasses always give me a headache.
I'm really kinda pissed that everything has to be in 3D this year coming up!!!

As for the Movie in question, I loved the origonal ( I was a Greek Mythology buff back then), so I'm worried about seeing the remake.

The '81 version was one of my favorite movies. The previews look great for this new one. I'm definitely going to see it this week then I'll decide...

Nice to see Dr Who making an appearance. At 1.34 in the new film, someone appears to be throwing the Tardis off a cliff.

The remake is just as cheesy as the original.

I leave it up to you to determine if that is a good or a bad thing.

I saw it on Saturday. I liked it a lot. Very original. Great 3_D. I cannot imagine what is going to happen to the world when pornography is made with that process. No one will ever go outside again.

But what was the first one you're talking about? I can't ge tthe upload from the first post in thi sthread. What was the name of the 1981 movie?
