International Rugby - The Barbarians

Well the american footballers have their thread, we rugby fans often jump in and yack on about how our game is much better

But really we should just have our own thread, so here it is. What are your thoughts on the current international friendlies and tours going on? I'm looking forward to England vs New Zealand this weekend.

Are the England team building again, after several years of uppy downiness after the 2003 world cup? I'm looking forward to a good forward game - hell I might even go down to Brits pub in Minneapolis early in the morning and watch it live with some other supporters - always makes for a good fun session.

Rugby is awesome. I played when I was in the army. Was thinking about joining an over 35 local group. Once you learn the game, it is just as good as American football.

its also nowhere near as rough or violent as the US game.

I just prefer the gentlemanly nature of the sport over the thuggery of North American Football

Oor wee Brian! Sneaked in and robbed ya! Hurrah! First time in 8 million years that Ireland had drawn with Australia, let alone beaten them...

I think its cruel you keep playing him - he is too old. He should have retired. Preferably about 2 weeks ago

don't be too hard on yourselves - you have beaten us 8 times. But that quarter final in '91 - now that must've hurt!

England-New Zealand should be a good game but we don't aim to get beat.

Our second team scrum had a bad time with the Italians who managed to hoodwink the ref but it's nice to see the IRB are sending the ref back to ref school and the AB's got an apology, he certainly didn't know scrum rules.

We have Jonathan Kaplan as the ref for the England-AB's game so we're happy with him, he's an experienced ref and knows what he's doing.
----------------
Ride on !

Played rugby for 5 years in college and then with men's clubs after college. Best sport around by far. I wish it was bigger here in the US. I still play a few times a year but with young kids I just don't have the time to get out there like I used to and dedicate myself the way I need to.

As for NZ vs England, although I don't get rugby on TV anymore (which is not cool) and I don't keep up with the latest news like I used to, I was always huge Jonah Lomu & Tana Umaga fans so I gotta pull for the All Blacks in this one.
