I used to be a "Ginger" man, but now I'm not so sure...

The thread about M*A*S*H* got me reminiscing about the childhood shows I used to watch, Gilligans Island was a must see for a long time.

Now the age old question pops up, were you a Ginger or a Mary-Ann man, personally, for me it was Ginger all the way.

But now I am a tad... well... a lot older I am looking at this a different way, I never really noticed this before, but Mrs Howell was hot! And loaded! (Always helps. ) Could I have been wrong all those years?

Ok, hands up, who else was a Ginger man?

I'm a Mary Ann guy. Always have been always will be. If you could meet Mrs. Irishguy you would understand. She's cute, she can cook, sew, and do all the domestic stuff, and I pull my weight around the house not because I have to, but because I love her.

I was tinkering with an outboard motor in the drive way and had it running mounted on an old sawhorse, with the foot stuck down in a garbage can full of water. She came home from work and hugged and kissed my greasy self and immediately wanted to know why I had the foot of the motor submerged in the garbage can full of water. I went on to explain the outboard motor's cooling system and she was genuinely interested to the point that she went up stairs grabbed me another beer and her some wine and then wanted me to explain automotive and motorcycle cooling systems.

She loves gear head stuff, she loves the History Channel, and she loves football.

The ex Mrs. Irishguy was a Ginger and could give a $hit less about anything like motors. She would have been bitchin' that I was working in the garage. Anybody that says they are a Ginger guy, has never been married to one.

Mary Anns all the way!!!

I saw Night at the Museum 2 on DVD last weekend. You've gotta love that Amy Adams:

Let's review the social dynamic.

Four men and three women stranded without chance of rescue.
Two of the men, the Skipper and Gilligan bunk together in a loyal brotherhood of sea-goin' Stan and Ollie-like commitment. Later Gilligan would venture to the Island's hemp fields and escape reality.
The Professor pursued with due diligence the study of wire-less cocoa-nut radio... in it's infancy at the time, and was thus preoccupied.
Thurston Howell III was therefore the only male on the island with a shot at the girls. And Ginger, being used to money and privilege, along with Maryann, needing a father-figure, no doubt were giving Mrs. Howell some competition. What were we talking about?

Oh yeah, I guess Ginger- sweet as ginger-ale and gingerbread. No wait, Maryann- warm and caring. I don't know, too hard to choose.

Mary Ann for me, even as a young lad. I always thought Ginger was too into herself.

Voldemort, I didn't realize Amy Adams was so pretty - I saw her in Julie and Julia, and she was kind of plain, probably intentionally.

I would have said Ginger. But, in Uncle Nort's pictue, Mary Ann seems to be wearing high heels that I don't remember, and those high heels are changing things for me now....

Has it never occurred to anyone that if the Professor can make a radio out of a coconut, why on earth couldn't he fix the boat?

Mary Ann.... no question.
