I just watched the shuttle launch
From my front yard. It's always really cool to watch the shuttle launch. Night launches are better, but the day ones are cool too. The sonic booms are still hitting the house.
Last time, we watched the launch from our shop. Way cool.
I love to watch the shuttle launches, and I confess I sometimes get a little choked up by the incredible sight of it. I mean really, really, how can we be doing this? And how can we do it so well and so often that we could possibly cease to be spellbound?

So did I. The whole office went outside to see it go up. Always a great thing to behold.
I got to see one launch last year while riding. I was the only one on the road, out in the country, came up over a hill (in Florida) and there she was blasting off into the clouds. Awesome.

Kinda routine here. They launched a rocket about a month ago during the day as well. They post it on the NASA site, but there is only a small mention on the local major paper here. I knew, because a friend of mine is an Engineer there.
It's hard to tell him he's not a Rocket Scientist....when he is. So I stick to the Brain Surgeon saying for him.
We kinda have our fingers in NASA. Husband and I have friends working there. Actually, more my husbands friends than mine.
Next on your list should be a Delta IV heavy vehicle. It's like watching a 25 story building lift off. Launching rockets is fun...
Here's a heavy Delta IV:

We were on spring break in '84, [i think!,] and "felt" one launch. By the time we realized it was not an earthquake, it had already risen beyond sight. I know, earthquakes don't happen in Florida. But it was spring break, you see. And it was early in the morning. Yeah, that's it.
