An observation...

Not to bag on Her Majesty, the Queen (no pun intended), but my Mom actually made a poignant observation that I'd like an expert to explain for me:

Why is it that when we see the Queen at formal functions, she's always carrying a purse with her?

What for?

Is she going to whip into the store to grab some milk and eggs? She was a mechanic during the war. Maybe she has a few spanners and screwdrivers in there to help stranded motorists? I don't know...

..but still, if any of you know what Her Majesty has in there, inquiring minds want to know.

A gun, for putting down revolutionary dogs.

Nah it's a tranquilizer gun for prince phillip.

The Queen is obviously not pleased...

can't be. Why would she need a passport?

After all it says in it "on behalf of her britannic majesty", why show it she can just ask for herself. "let me through on behalf of me"
