Career Change Time

Here's the "short and skinny" of it....

I live in Los Angeles and work('ed) in post production television as an editor. This means I work on various TV shows. This also means it's a "free-lance" position as is most television work. As in your employed while working on a show, once the show wraps, your off to find another. Since the grand ol' recession has taken hold work has been few and far between. Leaving myself (and about 90% of my fellow tv friends) work'less and thinking..... this isn't going to fly.

Me:

Male
29
Associates in Business IT
Prior Infantry Marine
Was a carpenter for 2 years
Live, breath, eat, sleep, motorcycles for the past 15 years.

Any job I've ever had has been to eat, keep a roof over my head, and fuel my motorcycle habit.

So the question is, any thoughts on a new interesting career path for a fellow motorcycle aficionado? The few things I can come up w/ is go the mechanic route, maybe sales? There's gotta be more options out there.

Happy day to you all.

I wouldn't consider getting into the motorcycle business right now, man. It's still a it unstable but in a few years, it might be looking up. I see you had some time in the military. Have you considered using the GI Bill to get a Bachelor's Degree?

Also, have you checked out some of the military recruiting firms? Here are a few that I have used in the past:

http://www.lucasgroup.com/military/

http://www.orioninternational.com/

http://bradley-morris.com/

I hope that helps. Happy hunting!!!

SoCal is a tough spot to be looking for work right now, My brother in laws are really hurting down there.
Good luck.

Keep your hobby separate from your career, you'll have more time to ride.

Think about health care, nursing, physical therapist, medical technician, etc... A good career and lots of work for you at our V. A. hospitals.

I go on USA jobs all the time. Let's put it this way. I'm glad my husband decided to start his own business, and got me involved. I'm a trained Architectural Engineer, with no experience due to 20 years in the military. In the military, I worked Intelligence and Special Operations. Nobody is hiring.

The jobs are great but that website sucks...

I wish they would make it more user friendly. Nine times out of ten, you see the job on the USA jobs website and then you have to join some other website and register before you can apply for the job. It's ridiculous...

It's a necessary evil, I'm afraid.

If you want to get a Govt. job, you have to go there but it's still a PITA...

Not alays a good idea to do your hobby as a job.

I flew tow planes at a gliding club for two years and it very quickly became tedious and boring.
