Get This...
Alright...I have a scenario for you all to read and supply me with your inputs. I have a troop that works for me that is fairly intelligent; by that I mean he can chew bubblegum and walk at the same time and not fall flat on his face (mind you that I stipulated walking and not running). Anyways...he had the bike bug for some time and I showed him my Bonnie. He fell in love with the bike, digs on the history part of the Triumph, and the overall vibe of a Trumpet itself. I thought it was cool, sharing with him what I know and so on. I guessed I talked about one too many rides around the water cooler at work because he took the plunge and got himself a Bonnie and is having it shipped over here to the UK. I was pretty stoked until I found out the little bastard just bought an '06 Creamsicle!! Now I am not sure if I should say congrats, fire him, whoop his a$$ or all three but not sure which order these three items should be achieved in. What would you do?

I'd worry about that troop - he does know they're made, and sold, here doesn't he?

I guess imitation is the highest form of flattery , just don't go riding with him otherwise people might think it's a 'his 'n hers' !

I have two quotes relevant to this situation.
1. "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery." Dunno who said it, or when.
2. "Kick his @$$." French chick, Better off Dead.

Actually, long story on that one that I found out myself. I was originally in the market for a new Bonnie from a local dealer last spring. I had the bike picked out, the color, date to pick up...everything but the down payment. I called the Hinckley office just to cover my bases before I dropped the cash and told them about my situation and that I would be bringing the bike back with me to the US after my assignment here was over. The rep at the Hinckley office told me NOT to buy the bike if I wanted to keep it. I was informed that the new UK Triumphs cannot be shipped back to the states because of a problem with the VIN system; customs would not let them into the country. An American Trumpet could come into the UK but not the other way around. So I immediately dropped the order...I figured if Hinckley was telling me not to buy their own product then I had better listened. Two weeks later I found my Creamsicle; a guy came into the UK on a new assignment and brought her with him but needed the money...got lucky beyond belief.

Do the imported bikes pass our emission test?
Obvioulsy he gets a better deal shipping from the states, same as in UK military in Germany you get tax free savings.
I'd be pissed that he didn't show any individuality and get a different colour.
and you asked for it by waxing so lyricaly about your bike
I also agree, don't go out together as it will look like a his and hers!! Lets hope he doesn't copy your nice Davida as well

Typical. And they expect us to believe that our respective countries aren't run by morons.

At least the stats are the same.

I already informed that we will not be riding together. What I do plan though is picking the lock to his garage one night; I think having an extra tangerine and cream tank would be something good to have. Matching up the tangerine paint is a royal pain in the butt!

The Bonnies are under the same spec and have the AI installed on them just like here. I was told that it was strictly the VIN numbering system that the UK Triumphs use that American customs would not accept. Other than that, they are the same bikes.
He doesn't know about the Davida. To his defense, I am leaving in a few months to move to Japan and I guess this is the color that really floated his boat. Doesn't mean that I can't give him living he11 though until I leave out of here

Ahem! Hello, I am right here! Just to let everyone know. My boss is more or less a little butt hurt about the fact that I picked this bike up with ALL and MORE of the upgrades he had ordered prior. Oh and did I mention it has an 865 rather than the 790cc engine. Now you can get me on the color, but then I ask you, is there any other color that screams "classic" than the creamsicle, asside from the vintage blue/white. He can say what he will, but I look at it as a testimony to Triumph, and to you, the consumer. The interest and respect that I have towards fellow owners is more than I have had on any vehicle manufactioning company in this world. A hat off to you all, and to my boss. Mind you he sits directly across from me. (and he is beaming)
