The enemy within...

I saw this article in the UK paper 'The Daily Telegraph'

Basically, there appears to have been a plot to blow up a New York subway train by an Al Quaida based group with one of the ringleaders being a young Afghan who lived in Denver.

We had a London subway attack in 2005 with over 50 people dying. These particular culprits (all died in the attack which was a suicide ''martyrdom'' mission) were of Pakistani origin but they had all been born in the UK (the UK has a growing Black and Asian population due to our liberal immigration laws). They were ''the enemy within.''

These were ''home grown'' terrorists who had been indoctrinated with hate and a desire to cause mayhem.

US intelligence had been about to sever links with UK based intelligence due to a spat over the Lockerbie bombers release; I bet they're glad they didn't stop talking.

Here is the article...

That would never happen, no never!

YES, I think all Americans pissed by the release of the lockerbie terrorist. That bastard should have rot in prision as long as he can draw a breath. Compassion for this guy, NO WAY.... that's ********.

I am not privvy to the details on this man.

He WAS found guilty......but.....

.....................however the tailor in Malta who said he saw him buying clothes from his shop (later identified from the debris from the aircraft) was seen to be an unreliable witness. Indeed one the fathers of a child murdered was one of many (I can't recall his name but he is an intelligent and educated man) folk who has continually questioned Maggrabi's guilt. IMO there are serious questions over this mans guilt, also he has continued to protest his innocence since his release; personally I think he was a patsie, a fall guy, who may have had dealings on the fringes of this awful event (he was a Libyan secret service agent I believe), but he was no killer.

You always need to find the benefactor of any event like this. Who would want a US aircraft bombed out of the sky? Well nor surprises there; it was a revenge attack, tit for tat.

IMO, the hand of both Iran (in particular) and Syria was most probably the ones that did the deed. The reason was most likely a revenge attack by Iranian secret services as a revenge for the USS Vincenzes fiasco (where a US ship shot down an innocent Iranian civilian airliner).

Casper
And innocent civilian airliner, using military IFF and a military transponder, flying out of a joint civilian/military airport during an attack on US warships by small boats.

Unless there's something to add, let's not do Lockerbie again. There was a long and hard-fought discussion on Lockerbie back when Megrahi was released. Lots of interesting facts and opinions, which someone who really wants to bring it up again should go back and read first. There's no new news, yet.

Just saying.

I agree.

The context of my original post was the background to this latest US plot to bomb the NY subway system.

Another member raised the Megrabi case. As far as I'm concerned the little I know (and it is a little) points to Iran as holding the real motive for Lockerbie.

But, maybe the truth will never be told, who knows?
