Why do we ride Triumphs?
So we've had why do we ride. So how about why do we ride Triumphs?
Me I rode Japanese bikes for about the first ten years of my riding career. The last one being a GPZ600r. Now a classic or soon to be one, as before that bike the sports 600 didn't exist as a class.
Anyhow I had a dad who had more Triumphs than anything else when he was younger, and a BSA riding mate who always needled me as to why I didn't get a Brit bike. My reasoning was that whilst old bikes were great I needed a modern reliable get me to work/across the country bike that didn't need constant fettling. Then came the re birth of Triumph and so I decided it was time to go British. The first being a grey Trophy 1200 1991 model. One of the first few Hinkley Triumphs off the line. The rest is History. I've owned nothing but a succession of Hinkley Triumphs as my main bike.
I ride British because of the history. The cool factor, and a bit of patriotic pride.
What about you lot?

Quality and value, first and foremost. History (pedigree) and the "coolness" factor (a great looking bike, no matter the model). To a lesser extent, but a factor nonetheless, to make a statement to the HD lemmings here in the USA.
My first two cars were British (Austin Healy Sprite and then Triumph TR4) and I loved them both! When I finally decided to get a bike, British was an easy choice for me.

If the bikes weren't competative, and good value I wouldn't have bought one. For me the fact that they are British is a source of pride. The fact that they are cool is the cherry on top!

For the same reason that I posted in the other thread...
"I ride because riding "Black Betty" it is the closest thing I can acheive to flying a Vickers Supermarine Spitfire a few feet off the pavement."

I like old stuff. And of the "old stuff," nothing compares to a Brit bike.
And with the flood of 401K Davidsons, it sure is satisfying to pull up on my old Norton or Triumphs.
I rolled up to the bar one night to meet some friends. A couple guys were out front next to their HDs. As I got off the '64 Norton, the questions started. All in all, they were nice guys. But when I said it was my commuter--"I ride it every day"--they didn't believe it. "Doesn't it break down all the time?" I told them I'd let them know when it did.
None of my old bikes has ever left me stranded. Ever. They may leak. They may spit and cough and toss nuts and bolts onto the roadway. But they get me home every time. I can fix them or bodge them on the side of the road with the smallest of tool kits. And that's something I cannot say about the modern bikes I've owned.

With a name like England, what else am I supposed to ride?
I guess I don't have as much experience with them as a lot of folks on here, as the Thrux is only my second bike, but when I saw a picture of the Thruxton, something about it spoke to me. Thank goodness it did, because now it's inspired me to have a blast with tuning, tinkering and modding. Something I probably never would have done (save for adding little chrome bits, yuck) with any other bike. I improve my bike, and in doing so its given me an opportunity to improve myself.

I like the name------"Triumph". Just a great name for a motorbike. When people ask what kind of bike I ride, I tell them "Triumph" & the usual response is, "Cool!" Nobody ever said that when I rode Hondas.

I'll ride anything that puts a smile on my face. Just about every motorcycle puts a smile on my face!

I have always loved the parallel twin and the simple but yet functional flow of the cafe/roadster. These bikes just drip with class as it is a perfect example of minimalism can equate to being artistic. The sound of that parallel twin where it is not obnoxiously loud for no functional reasoning but yet there is a distinctive and thrilling rumble when you twist down on the throttle. The name as well, where the name Triumph has got to be the classy motorcycle name out there...one name says it all. These bikes are considered the tough underdog when rolling down the road and that is the American in me...the underdog. A bike that gets the head nod from the HD and Indian regardless if we need their approval or not. Just the fact of rolling by them and holding your chin up to a bike that sounds better and performs great. This is what they always rant about it with their bikes...Triumph bikes achieve this....they know it and in return respect it. The last reason for me is the rich history of the company; the bandge on the side of the tank means something more than just an advertisement label that lets everyone know what you are riding. This badge has gone from Conventry to Meriden and on to Hinckley and still keeps rolling down the road. It is a sense of having something more than just a motorcycle; being a part of something good. This is what I am reminded when the "old-timers" approach me and share their stories and ask their questions to me when I am out riding. I respect and am humbled by each one as well and I feel it is my honor to receive that from them.
