Do you see the motorcycle
The Honda crotch rocket rider was traveling at approximately 85 mph. The VW driver was talking on the cell phone when she pulled out from a side street, apparently not seeing the motorcycle. The riders reaction time was not sufficient enough to avoid this accident. the car had two passengers and the bike rider was found INSIDE the car with them. The Volkswagon actually flipped over from the force of impact and landed 20 feet from where the collision took place.
All three involved (two in the car and the bike rider) were killed instantly. This graphic demonstration was placed at the Motorcycle Fair by the Police and Road Safety Department.

Moral of the tale? GET OFF THE BLOODY PHONE YOU ARSEHOLE! Shout that every time you see some numb nuts on their mobile phone. And give their door a kick for good measure.
Don't be too scared. How often does something this serious happen? Normaly its an expensive, painful shunt like the one that wrote off a certain honda fireplace we know about.

Nickwiz,
I agree that cagers on cellphones are a hazard to everybody, but in all fairness, there is nowhere in the U.S. that 85 MPH is legal. Certainly, it is reckless to be traveling at such speeds past intersections (not that I haven't done it). But the rider has to bear some, possibly equal, responsibility for an accident that might have been avoidable if he had been operating within the legal speed limit.

Instantly, while doing something you love? Beats rectal cancer. Or Alzheimer's. Or several other lingering diseases I can think of.
God's peace to the families involved.

That isn't good but it is old news. Here's another description of what happened from 2005.

whoah! the posted link indicated the motorcycle was travelling at 150+ mph.
I've been 145 on my old Ninja 11. Anything that happens at that speed on a public road is the bike riders fault. No matter which way this is sliced it was bad news for everybody... rip.
The cops really do need to crackdown on cellphone use in cars though... and good advice roadscum, i always ride like they are out to get me.

The reason i posted this, the same scenario happened in my town. The driver of the car pulled right in front of the bike. The poor kid died on the way to the hospital. They were setting up a memorial near the accident scene and i gave my condolences to his friends, they told me he was a seasoned rider. The news media clearly turned the rider from the victim to the cause. The original article stated his helmet wasn't DOT approved, and if you look at the helmet above(URL) in the pictures you can see it was. I saw the scene there was about ten feet of tire tread where he tried to stop. The rider clearly had the right of way, either the kid driving the car wasn't paying attention or he didn't see the rider. Point of the post STAY ALERT..!!
