Cullinary masterpieces.

I remember in my youth spending a week in Adeliade one night.

And after around 40 beers, a mate and I decided to get us a Pie Floater. So we lurched and staggered to "Harry's Cafe du Wheels" and got ourselves a pie floater. Harry's place was a food caravan.

This consists of taking a meat pie, putting it upside down in a soup bowl and then pouring mushy pea soup over it, and then giving it a fair serve of tomato sauce. I tell you, at 2 am and 40 beers under the belt, sitting in the gutter eating a pie floater, you havn't lived 'till you been there.

Anyone else know of any other local delicasies indigineous to their part of the world, that are generally consumed when drunk and at no other time?

A Garbage Plate from Nick Tahou's in Rochester NY. This is what they say...

Nick Tahou Hots is a Rochester, NY landmark restaurant famous for the Garbage Plate™. We start with a base of any combination of home fries, macaroni salad, baked beans, or french fries topped by your choice of meats and dressed to your liking with spicy mustard, chopped onions, and Nick Tahou's signature hot sauce. Each plate comes with two thick slices of fresh italian bread and butter.

The reality is you try to yell your order to them, and they yell back at you ( like a sketch from an old Saturday Night Live with John Belushi ) and each other and eventually you end up with a paper plate filled with a bunch of scoops of whatever they felt like giving you.

Seemed good at the time
