New guy

Hi there everyone! I'm the new guy on the boards, wanted to say hi and introduce myself. I've been perusing the forums for a while and decided to quit procrastinating and sign up!

I currenty have an 03 Suzuki SV650, but I've been lusting after a Speedmaster or Thunderbird for some time now. I test rode an America yesterday, and I'm glad I did. After several years of riding, I decided that I really wanted a bit more power than the Speedy so it looks like I'll have to save a bit more for the T-Bird.

And, since I'm posting my first thread, I might as well start with a question: does anyone have any knowledge about whether there are aftermarket products to black out the stock chrome covers (primary cover, etc) on the Tbird? That's one of the things that attracted me to the Speedy, but it would be nice to know if it's possible on the T-Bird too, even as an aftermarket customization project. Thanks all! Hopefully I'll have pics of my new bike to post up soon!

Welcome, seven of grin! Glad you've succumbed to assimilation!

Blacking out covers shouldn't be any trouble. There's always your mark 1 spray can... For those with slightly deeper pockets, you could have them powder coated or Jet-Hot could ceramic coat them for you. Dunno about aftermarket; lots of the motorcycling aftermarket world is busy burning R&D money trying to figure out how to chrome tires...

Go get an extra job, so you can buy your bike and post pics sooner.

Other Motorcycle: I wish!
If you like the blacked out look, go for a Tbird Sport as it has a black engine.
Or you could find a TBS being parted out and buy the bits from that and transfer to a standard Tbird

Welcome sevenfootgrin! I have a 2009 America and absolutely love it, but certainly understand your pining for the T-Bird - that's one cool bike, and could be my next, or maybe the new Rocket III Roadster!

HA! My job now doesn't allow me time for a second one. I'll just have to scrape it together... the sooner the better!
