Am I utterly insane?
I own a gorgeous Triumph (or does she own me?)..... Riding down the street is like walking the high schools halls while dating the head cheerleader. So, am I crazy for looking at my beautiful lass and wanting to add things, change things....burn a hole in my pocket the size of Australia....
Before I was lucky enough to join the fraternity of New Triumph ownership, I played around with the old Meriden ones (still do) and would lament finding an otherwise nice bike with a lot of the original gear gone. I would look at these bikes and think 'That old Bonnie was just perfect when she rolled out of Coventry. WHY OH WHY would you molest it??' Now it seems I am the heretic who wants to dye the cheerleaders hair and give her a nose ring.

I don't think so....
I like making some subtle, personal touches to motorcycles. Nobody likes to have the exact, same thing as someone else. What fun is that?!?!

My buddys little sister grew up to be literally a full size barbie.Going someplace with her and walking around, you could just hear guys tripping and spinning around and feel them staring.
It is a little like that riding the Bonneville through town. Lot of guys staring.
When I do get that Meriden Bonny, I want it as close to stock as I can get.

Sal, you sure you want us all to think you enjoy the guys staring at you on your Bonnie? Something you're not telling us? Mmmmm? Could it be they are staring at you and not your bike eh?
Mick

When I had classics back in the 80's - T'bird, Cub, Dommie, 650 SS, BSA M33 (500 OHV sprung saddle now that was a joy) - I could never understand why people wanted to change them.
Now I am about to take delivery of a Norton with an Atlas engine in a slimline frame AND indicators god forbid. It will look great with short megas and many upgraded components. It is a blend of form AND function and indeed Norvil - when I went to see them - said tell us what you want and we will build it.
We are all a bit older on this site and more ££ to spend than perhaps 30 years ago. That ££ power burns a hole in the pocket.
I dont worry about it - I want a bike to be a cheerleader, sublime and rideable.

No, you're not insane at all. Beauty can always be improved upon. Head cheerleader is hot. Head cheerleader with a tramp stamp (lower back tattoo) is even hotter. Head cheerleader with legs in the air is the hottest of all.

I kind-of want to see them live...
I haven't had the chance yet...

I've done my best to help the economy, especially Brent at newspeedmaster, as well as give my ride the personality that I want it to express.
But it's been over a year now since I've made a mod, and I sometimes find myself thinking, "Is that all there is?" as opposed to "Perfecto!"
I'm thinking of trading it in for a tang and cream Bonnie when I relocate to the Republic of Texas.
