Some photos and video from the Isle of Man TTXGP, "World first zero-emissions road race"

Cool stuff methinks.

John Crellin

hi crosstie,

I've been marshaling up at Joey's all week, watched the electric bikes with interest. The Agni bike, no.12, was visibly quicker than anything else up the mountain. It must have been doing 70 or 80 mph past us at the 26th, was doing 102mph on Sulby straight in practice.

Spare a thought for John Crellin though, who was 2nd in his class in ttxgp. John lost his life during the senior tt later in the day. Sorry for the bad news.

I was really amazed at how well these machines went - things are further along than I thought. Well this looks like it could be the future along with hydrogen fuel cells etc I suppose. Fascinating to see.

Was very sorry to hear of the unfortunate passing of John Crellin & I'm sure we all send our condolences to his friends & family

Honestly, I was expecting most to only get as far as Crosby ( about 7 miles in ). It worked a lot better than I thought it would.
There is still some way to go, but I was pleased to see this event.
It is a return to the original purpose of the TT races. To prove out new technology vehicles.

Very sad about John's passing.

Nige.

Agreed, the electric bikes certainly aren't on par with the gassers yet... but a promising start I think - better then I expected anyway.

The gas-powered bikes have had what, 110 years to get where they are? I'd guess it won't take that long for the electrics to catch up

I heard about John Crellin, very sad news. A sobering reminder of what can happen to even the best riders. Condolences to his family and friends.

More video... this time on-board footage from the Brammo Enertia TTR. Funny to watch the scenery flash by with no sound but that electric whine - sounds like a land speeder from Star Wars

That course is a bit scary!

cheers,

RIP John. Very sad.

Lots of pics from the ttx gp paddock in my tt09 pics. check the rides and events picture gallery.

If you are interested in this stuff then the next race is in the USA and they are looking for builders and riders.

Cheers Nick - didn't see your other post on the eGrandPrix in Ohio. I read that FIM is creating an all-electric race series as well (I don't think the Ohio races are part of it though):

Can't find your TT09 photos, are they in Photo Gallery or Members Albums section(s)?
