10c/50F too cold to ride??Gone soft????
I have just had a friend down from Sydney on his bike to stay for 4 days and he wanted go for a ride.Although I have good riding gear and it was not raining I decided 10c or 50F is too cold
and we took the car instead. He insists that Australia has a all year round riding climate and I am now to soft to be called a real motorcyclist. What sort of temps do you guys ride in in really cold climates????

Far be it from me to say you've gone soft, but I wouldn't rest my kickstand on you.
This winter, the 30s were automatic riding weather if the roads were dry. The serious decision making didn't start until the 20s.

How low do I go?
-8 F is my current record for cold weather stupidity. I won't ride in temps that cold again, but 50 F seems, well, like very nice weather by comparison.
Quit shaving your chest, legs, and arms and get riding!

Around 2 degrees C - as long as it is dry, not windy (wind chill a real killer here) and salt free roads. Shade often = ice = fall off = wish had'nt gone out. That Legend TT looks nice - can you post some piccies??

Some pics of legend over in modified triples section but could never work out how to post pics that did not end up as thumbnails so just gave up.
Some good pics here http://www.bikepics.com/triumph/legendtt/99/pics.asp
The heat range here in Melbourne this year is 0c-48c or 32F-140F
But have seen a clip on youtube of German riders out for a ride with snow falling and find that hard to believe, they must have antifreeze for blood!

Yeah those Germans, Danes and Swedes thrive on winter time camping trips on old beezers, triumphs etc. Not my cup of tea - there is something deeply masochistic and they all have large amounts of body hair huge bellies and insatiable appetite for beer and fat. Maybe I should try it! Dragon Rally in Wales is similarly insane. At my age, the end of the ride has to involve a soft mattress and a warm woman .

.... yep you've gone a bit soft Bueller.
I generally prefer over 10C myself but did a mid winter ride a couple of years ago to a RAT Raid.
I was fairly well padded but was still feeling the cold by the end of the day.
Took me 9 hours in 5-10C temps and I'm in no hurry to repeat the exercise

It was -2.5C here this morning with frost on the ground! I was going to take the bike to beat the Friday night peak hour crawl home to the west. I chickened out, took the car and sat in traffic for an hour on the way home instead of 30 minutes cutting traffic on the bike!
I feel like such a girl

+1 Heated gear can make a world of difference once the temperatures drop into the 40s. Less bulk, more comfort.
