An Appointment For Service, That To Much To Ask

I stopped by my local dealer on my way home from work. I was due for my first service check and asked to make an appointment to bring my bike in. The dealer said they did not make appointments and even for a simple service check could take 2 to 3 hours. For my Street Triple R I knew that the 500 mile oil change was the most critical thing so I did that myself. So just to check the bike over and make a few adjustments 2-3 hours to wait around the dealer. Just seems like a shop would prefer to take appointments for a service check.

Just curious what peoples thoughts were.

Is this motoprimo? Belle Plaine will make an appointment for you.

Wow that is a good guess yes it was Motoprimo. I might just have to make the drive down to Belle Plaine.

My thought is that a dealer like that who feels their time is more valuable than yours is to be avoided when possible. Are they doing you a favor by working on your bike, or are you doing them a favor by giving them your business?

Sport Rider over by Eau Claire is another good option for you, but looks like Belle Plain is closer.

I can't imagine why a dealership would be averse to taking appointment. Given the choice, I'd always go to a dealer that did.

Wow make a post in here and all the midwest people starting posting. I met a few of the people who work at Sport Riders at their booth at the Motorcycle Show this past winter. They were all nice but they sure were busy with all the people checking out the Street Triple they had there. It was kind of funny. They would be a bit further away though.

I think you'll like Belle Plaine better (than motoprimo). Smaller, family owned and run, friendly. Sure they have their quirks like we all do, but if I was going to get a dealer to service my Triumph I would go there.

Those sportrider guys seemed pretty good. I might take a run to their dealership just to check 'em out. Plus Wi has some fun roads.

I bought both my bikes at Chattanooga Power Sports, but that dealership closed. I had read so many bad things about Bogartt's in Birmingham, I was leary of trusting them with service, and I had a bad experience on their parts prices.

I googled Triumph dealerships and found Freewheeling Honda Triumph and Suzuki in Douglasville, Ga. Bogarts is 84 miles from my house, and Freewheeling is only 68. I had my Trophy serviced (with an appointment) it was taken in on time, everything on the bike was checked and adjusted if needed. It was about $94, but on the ride home, the bike ran and handled better than new.

I have since bought tires from Freewheeling. They weren't cheep, but they weren't outrageous. On the ride home I found that they ere balance perfectly. I had an appointment, the work was done, and I was on my way home in 90 minutes.

Freewheeling, I learned, is one of the oldest Triumph dealerships in the country. Roger Smith is the service manager, and he is a nice guy.

Even though I have the time (I'm retired) I wouldn't go to a dealership that would not give me an appointment. Heck, I'm paying them, they're not paying me.

Thanks for everyone's input.

Yeah I'm terrible!

It's true though, the folks around here are great.
