I usually like Adam's rants, but i don't care for this one.

I never wave at cagers who move over when i'm splitting lanes. It's a bad enough situation to be in, so i'm not going to take my hands off the controls to wave. Every half second counts. It says a lot about his ego that he requires someone to reaffirm his "good" action.

Personally, i hate it when people move out of the way. I've seen cagers do this only to cut off a motorcyclist filtering on the other side. It also may signal to the car next to them that there's a space opening up that they can squeeze into. There's usually plenty of room without unpredictable cagers performing needless maneuvers.

His whole rant about bashing cruisers is rather dumb, too. Especially since he's a muscle car guy. Cruisers are like muscle cars in that people like to hear the sound the engine makes. They aren't meant to be raced around a track, but do pretty well in a straight line. I'll admit that the pipes have gotten ridiculously loud, though.

I rode with a cruiser club a few times and most of them were douches. A lot of them acted tough and dressed the part, but were really little girls. It was pretty funny. It's also pretty funny seeing squids bad mouth each other. "Dude? Where's your gear? You should be in full leathers" from a guy who slides his back tire into blind corners. True story.

There's a lot of douches out there on every sort of bike. I saw a guy in an orange safety vest pull a bone head move this morning. There were a bunch of cars waiting to make a U-turn around the end of a concrete median. This yahoo squeezes his bike between the median and cars, side bags and all, wiggling his way to the front. Then turns inside the next car trying to make a U-turn.

Almost every week i see some nut job on a bike passing on the right between traffic and parked cars. I see motorcyclists all the time pull up in the front of a line of cars waiting to turn left. With all the crap i see going on it's made me realize just how bad it is out there. If half the bikers i see are being morons, chances are that half the car drivers out there are morons, too. They just haven't gotten on two wheels.

.

I don't think he owns a single muscle car.

This is one reason you shouldn't lane split anywhere other than between the two lanes to the very left. There a lot more risk lane splitting the middle of the freeway where there's a lot more cars making sudden lane changes.

If I can't wave safely, I'll at least give them two fingers off the grip or a nod. I just see it as normal human intercourse.

He starts off with good ideas, a lot of which I can get behind but his logic never carries over to cover his position. Now I know he is in this for entertainment purposes so everything he says should be colored by that, but was it just me or did the the man on the one hand fawn all over the mini cooper as a good car and then turn around and slam Chevy and Dodge for the reintroducing the Camaro and Challenger because they were looking back?

I'm generally a curmudgeon and find fault with damn near every strata of society for one thing or another at some point, but even I try to at least be consistent in my bitching. Adam is just being an asshat for listeners. (something I have no conflict in finding fault with)

I've never lived anywhere where lane-splitting was legal. I sometimes drive in Mass though, where it is. We were stopped, still, at the RT3 Rotary down on the cape and a couple of small groups of bikes filtered by. Going 40 or so.

I can see the Italian scooter filtering at lights being useful, where the cars stop back some 15 or 20 feet from the intersection and that space fills with scooters and bikes who all rocket off on the green. That I could see doing. The other, not so much.

The podcast guy isn't as funny as I'd hoped... I don't like the segment of bikers who are are home-to-lunch-to-bar-to-home as they don't seem to like like to wave much.
