Washington DC stores?
Headed to Washington DC over the coming weekend and was wondering if there are any great bike dealerships in the area ?
I'm looking for a store(s) that offers a multitude of brands in leathers, gloves, helmets, boots, ..etc
Thank you.

Bob's BMW in the Jessup/Columbia area, off US Route 1, northeast of Washington toward Baltimore.

Heyser Cycle in Laurel, also in the same general area, has a decent selection.

There's a typical over-the-top Harley dealer on US1 toward Baltimore as well, if you're into that. And that also brings you near the famous outdoor ride-up Daniel's Biker Bar in Elkridge on Route 1, if you're into that.

Those are two good places, Balto.
Also you can try Clinton Cycles in Camp Springs, MD and Coleman Powersports in Falls Church, VA.
I don't think there is actually a motorcycle dealership within the DC city limits.

Even if there were, I wouldn't let my worst enemy ride to it if he'd just signed over a $1M life insurance policy to me. The traffic in D.C. is hideous.

Which reminds me, the best way to get into downtown Washington is to take the train or the Metro. The only time I can remember driving into Washington was when I missed an exit for the beltway a few years ago, and it added an hour to my trip.

No, no, the best way is to have a 'compelling life story', make friends with a domestic terrorist.... okay, okay, you get the idea.

Criswell Power Sports had the biggest showroom in the DC metro area but they closed their doors last year. They are a big auto dealership that found they just couldn't compete even though they had Honda, Victory, Kawasaki, Yamaha, and all the personal watercraft as well.
The best cycle dealerships are in the surrounding burbs, but nothing I would call a showcase dealership. Battlefield Harley Davidson up near Gettysburg is pretty cool. I hear. Not that I would ever walk into one of those places, you know. Bloody pirates!

Then you need to hear this...
True story. My father in law is riding in D.C.. He's stopped at a light, in the left lane. The light turns green, and the lady next to him in the right lane decides she actually wants to make a left turn. So she does so. Without looking. Her car physically, literally pushes my father in law's bike (a VFR800 at the time) out of the way. To this day, he has no idea how he kept the rubber down.
You are not going to have fun riding in D.C.. The only thing they want more than your gory death is to finish their text message to Detroit while changing their GPS preferences from 'fastest route' to 'most likely to give me a chance to test my S.U.V.'s suspension on tectonic potholes.'
Be afraid. Be very afraid.
