Thinking of Going to Nova Scotia........

I am thinking of taking the CAT (Ferry) across to Nova Scotia this summer with the Mrs.. I thought of going up the coast to the top and back across to the mainland and coming back down the top of Maine. Has anyone out there done this by bike. I wanted to know if they enjoyed it and if they had any problems. Thanks Lee

It was -23 degrees last week. I don't think I want to do much riding at that temp....factor in the wind chill on a bike -33....Ouch! I would be picking up digits and appendages from freezing and dropping off.

Lee, that route should be a breeze for you from where you're starting, especially taking the ferry one way. Google shows about 700 miles over land plus about 200 miles on the ferry to return home. Do-able with 2 or 3 overnights to really enjoy it.

There was an article in one of my MC magazines not too long ago highlighting a ride through the maritime provinces. If I can find it I'll send you a copy. We were considering doing that ride this year but it looks like it'll be pushed back to 2010.

Go the Bennington Triumph Bash site - some guys there, I believe, did a tour up there last year. Saw some photos - splendid!
Lee, did you go to the Maine Euro Motorcyclist Enthusiast meet in Bethel last year, or do you go? I did - good stuff! A few photos:

If you have info on the Euro meet in Bethel this year please let me know. I plan on doing a lot around Maine and Canada this year. It is one of the few states that you can ride and not sit in traffic. thanks

I think you mean "one of the few states back east that you can ride and not sit in traffic."

BTW, that sidecarred BMW is pretty darn cool.

Lee,

where in Maine are you? I am in Westbrook. My brother and my wife and I are planning a trip very similar to yours for this summer as well. I'd be curious as to your route. Possibly we could share maps & ideas.

On a side note you should check out:

I belong but not very active.
