I agree with Nick on this, that film has been made by a US pro-gun lobby, it is extremely biased, there is a difference between legitimate hunting and owning hand-guns.
I own 3 weapons, a BRNO .22 a Remington .308 and a Winchester 12 bore shotgun, all licensed and I undertook a firearm safety course and examination to obtain that licence.
I do not own a hand-gun, you do not need to protect your property with a fire-arm here in NZ and I will venture neither in the UK or Australia. In the US it is possibly a different matter and I would not seek to put my personal views on ownership in that country which has a traditional ownership right.
You can purchase a hand-gun here but only as a member of a firearms club but you cannot carry that weapon on your person.
Firearms here are always locked up when not in use to prevent them being stolen and used by criminals. If I was to protect myself or my property with a firearm I would be equally be as guilty of an offence as would a criminal that used one against me.
We don't need proliferation of weapons in this country, you need to have a reason to own one to keep them out of unsafe hands and we are a safer country for it.
