Thanks Dave! I sympathize with your plight and struggle to regain your lawful and constitutional right. It's ludicrous to think that living in a country which is filled with dangerous animals and human predators a government would even entertain removing the right to protect yourself. Politicians are not representing you when they follow their own adgendas and should be removed from office abruptly.

The UK has a common law system, so its citizens cannot, be definition, have any constitutional rights. Inalienable human rights, however, among those being the right to effective self defense, should be, well, inalienable. That's the world that should be. In that world, anyone who is injured trying to commit a crime wouldn't be allowed to sue the person who was defending themself, for that matter.

Who made that film? I think they had a pro handguns agenda. If you pistol packing mamas believe that highly biased load of turd then sadly the ridiculous stereotype that Americans are stupid might be coming true! I hope not because I never believed it but please tell me you have more intelligence than to swallow the nonsense in this film hook line and sinker.

Undoubtably there may be a few handgun fetishists in amongst the crowds of the countryside alliance march. A march that incidentally was principally about the fox hunting ban and the percieved lack of understanding in Govt for the countryside and the people who live there. But to link the March with the Tony Martin case is pure fabrication. Also this whole thing happened a few years ago and the Martin case even further back.

Trust me there aren't that many of us calling for handguns. In general I think you'll find we're realy rather happy that we don't live in a gun crazy society.

You have no idea about the distortion and manipulation in this film. Its pretty sad realy that you honestly belive your society is healthier because you can shoot people. What utter utter rot!

I am but not cos I'm ignorant. I'm blissful because of this

Deaths per 100,000 Homicide Suicide Accident

USA 3.98 5.92 0.36

UK 0.15 0.2 0.03

Guns are for battlefields or hunting trips. I'm very blissful that I don't live in a Battlefield.

It is you who believe that manipulated crap contained in the film that I am afraid to say are ignorant.

Normally to be honest I wouldn't have posted on this as I'm sick of the gun argument. But I get pissed off when people on your side of the pond try to misrepresent the truth about this country to serve some facile argument about guns!

And with that I'm gone.

ziiiiiiiiiiiip!

I agree with Nick on this, that film has been made by a US pro-gun lobby, it is extremely biased, there is a difference between legitimate hunting and owning hand-guns.

I own 3 weapons, a BRNO .22 a Remington .308 and a Winchester 12 bore shotgun, all licensed and I undertook a firearm safety course and examination to obtain that licence.

I do not own a hand-gun, you do not need to protect your property with a fire-arm here in NZ and I will venture neither in the UK or Australia. In the US it is possibly a different matter and I would not seek to put my personal views on ownership in that country which has a traditional ownership right.

You can purchase a hand-gun here but only as a member of a firearms club but you cannot carry that weapon on your person.

Firearms here are always locked up when not in use to prevent them being stolen and used by criminals. If I was to protect myself or my property with a firearm I would be equally be as guilty of an offence as would a criminal that used one against me.

We don't need proliferation of weapons in this country, you need to have a reason to own one to keep them out of unsafe hands and we are a safer country for it.

------------
Ride on !
