Headlight and gauges

I crashed my 03 a while back damaging the headlight and its brackets .. bike was saved from more extensive damage by landing on me ! .. and after much searching here and and elsewhere on the interweb I think I've come up with fix. I'm on a budget and will need to reuse my original gauges, I like them anyway and all they really need are some new gaskets so I thought the DCC 7" headlight assembly coupled with the LSL brackets would be good. The LSL kit is expensive but I need to be able to attach my bullet signals to them. I was also thinking I'd need a ignition relocation bracket from D9 which I believe would lower the gauges some, tidying everything up and put the key up where I'd prefer. So, has anyone done anything similar to an older ( relatively speaking ) Bonnie ? Would appreciate any advice ... thanks

Forchetto likes this.

Garage
None of those Dime City headlight buckets will work. There's no room in the back for all the wiring - even if you pull the R/R connector and the ignition switch wiring out. I've tried. There are a few buckets out there with the room (and a big access hole), but it will take some looking.

Those headlights will, in fact, work. Any 7" side-mount light will work. A more traditional one would be the Emgo Lucas-style light, which I have on my Bonnie.

BTW, I still have my stock headlight mounts, and a couple of spare aluminum fork cover tubes. $39 shipped for the stockers, $19 for the tubes.

These are in good condition.

These are just aluminum tubes cut to fit the stock forks, with the stock rubber spacers. The light brackets are just sheet aluminum pop-riveted in place and can easily be removed. This option is 1.25 lbs lighter than the stock headlight ears.

I'm using a 2.5" mini-speedometer that has all the indicator lights included. Works on the carb bikes.
