I ran an 18 incher in back for a bit on my thruxton. I liked the way it filled the fender gap, but didn't like the available rubber choices. So I went back down to a wider, 17" rear to allow for a wider selection of sportbike rubber options....
I used to quite anal about tires way back when but now, as long as they're stable, grippy and predictable, if it fits I'll run it.
Familiar story; out hooning about on a warmed up Duc 900SS heading to Marcus Dairy, a bagged and Parabellumed air head left us as if gravity was ours alone.
Found the bike once we got to the dairy.
He was running recycled "Baldini's" that looked like they were 15 lbs. light on air.
"Well...it ain't tires then!".
