Purchase a 5 3/4 Bates headlamp for my 2013 Thruxton. I've searched on end for a step by step, i have 0 experience with electronics/wires etc. Hoping someone has performed this mod and has a step by step how to. Would be so helpful.
So far this is what i have done and plan on doing.
I've already relocated ignition, and rectifier.
I know i have re route the wiring loom under the tank.
What i think i have to do. I am going to cut the headlamp connector from the wiring loom, install butt or bullet connectors to the wires i cut. Install same either butt or bullet connectors to the Bates headlamp. Is it that easy? Am i missing anything?
So I'm stuck and if anyone can please help me. I keep blowing a fuse when I turn the high beam on. I had 2 blue/white wires. 1 blue/red, and 2 grounds. The BAtes light has 1 green, 1 white and 1 blue.
I crimped 2 blue/whites and ground together connected to blue for high beam
Crimped blue/red and ground together and connected to white low beam on Bates.
I was left with the green ground on headlamp. I connected the parking light yellow and black to this green ground.
Either your choice of words is not very good or you have crimped the blue/whites 12volts and ground 0 volts together, this makes a dead short , fuse will blow
Got to it all sorted and lights worked at one point. My high beam isn't working so I'll have to check the connection and report back.
Thank you all for your help. First time, can you tell?
