Help with some research

G'day.

I need a little help with some research on my Bonneville Classic.

It's a 2003 model, plated in 07/03 and looks exactly like a Bonneville 790 (except the pipes have been replaced.)

The issue is that instead of the 790cc motor. It's got the 865. Now from everything I can find the 865's weren't used until 2007 on the classics and 2006 on the T100's.

It's definitely not a T100 or a Thruxton but I have been told by the original owner (my father) that it was a special edition of some sort.

On the Engine plate it has a serial number, 0030, as well as the normal engine number ect.

Can anyone give me any more info on the bike at all?

Cheers

Had a look at Bike Bandit which lists the models by year, and for 2003 one of the parts lists comes up with two cylinder bore diameters. The 86mm is 790cc, the 90mm is for the 865.

The stroke remained 68mm for both 790 and 865 models:

BARRELS,TWIN,FINNED, DIA 86 Engine number 202398 - 211132. Part number T1161900

BARRELS, 2 CYL, DIA 90.0 Engine number 211133 and higher. Part number T1169022

Thanks for the reply Forchetto.

I've had a look for the Engine number and it doesn't correspond to either of those that you've posted. I'm probably looking at the wrong thing entirely.

The Number I have is T184020 though I think that's the engine serial number.
