So why is EJK not popular with the air-cooled crowd?

Just brought home a black ’13 T100 with less than 2k miles last weekend. Then, I immediately scored a set of used TOR’s. My head’s been spinning ever since weighing my options on the install.

All I want is a nice British twin snarl with no decel popping. I’ve read everything from slap ‘em on and ride it to removing the AI and O2 sensors and downloading custom maps from TuneECU.

TuneECU. I don’t know, seems janky. Power Commanders are so freaking expensive.

One option I came across is EJK, but I don’t see anyone posting their experiences. The instructions don’t look much better than TuneECU, the cost isn’t that much less than DynoJet and it requires removing the O2 sensors but reading their website has me half convinced. What am I missing?

Not sure what "janky" means...but TuneECU is quite straightforward and simple to perform. Plus you get access to most of the bike's systems for diagnosis/tuning (balancing throttle bodies, setting Throttle Position Sensor, etc. etc.)....not just a tool for performing remapping. Though you do need to supply a laptop, the USB cable is $20 on Ebay. Software free and there are a good range of free maps available...but you can also go with pro maps like those from TriumphTwinPower for excellent results.

Not a lot of point in using an EJK or Power Commander on an ECU that can easily be remapped via software. I also have an EFI Royal Enfield. On these bikes the EFI cannot be remapped by a home user, so a popular mod is to use a Power Commander V that piggybacks on the ECU. Several owners choose the cheaper and less sophisticated EJK because they only want to get the standard setup to run properly and are not interested in tuning the motor. I chose to put a carb on mine.

I really can't see the point in either a PCV or EJK on the Triumph. As others have said, for the price of an OBD2 to USB cable there are n maps available to download and install for free.

Janky (??) or not , TuneECU is really easy to use and no jerking around ( at least I know what that means) with add ons.
