Clutch Cover Fitment

Considering purchasing a set of brushed covers (stator and clutch) from a 2012 Thruxton for my 2006 Scramber (carb).

Will they definitely fit? Are there differences? Triumph has different part numbers, so I just want to be sure.

Cheers,

Noah

There are differences, as I found out when I changed my cases. Around 2006 the crankcase breather was changed to a labrynth system. That should not affect the fitting of the case, since the mouldings inside which hold the aluminium breather tube are still there.

However, a change was made to the gear selector shaft. I have no idea when the change took place but the clutch cover I got for my 2010 SE would not fit, due to my bike having a larger diameter selector shaft.

I would say that as long as the cover fits your selector shaft then you should be able to use it.

All other covers - stator, sprocket and cam cover are identical on all models.

Ahhh I figured there was something... I know that the only aftermarket cover I see (Speed Merchant, for like a million dollars) is universal.

Anyone know whether my 06 Scrambler will have issues with selector shaft clearance with a 2012 Thruxton clutch cover?

Alternatively, could I simply use a Thruxton (or other) selector shaft? Would that mess up the riding geometry?

Thanks! I don't know where you are but in case you are in the UK this is the guy that did my polishing:

I have no affilliation with the guy, except as a personal friend which arose from the work that he has done for me and being a very satisfied customer, but he is a motorcyclist himself so his prices are really affordable and he has a courier service for distance customers. He has, in my view, a gift for polishing anything. Do take a look at his gallery, there are a lot of before/after pictures. This is an example of a rather grotty brake caliper from a CB650:
