What fell off my Scrambler?

I am in the process of removing EVAP, O2 and AI all at once. I just notices this small, square, rubber gasket underneath my 2012 Scrambler. Is about the size of a dime (US currency) Any idea what it fell off of? Maybe a gasket for one of the electrical connections I unplugged?


Current: 2012 Scrambler, Bitubo forks, YSS shocks, Arrow 2-to-1, 33mm DB killer, TTP tune #4, Breathe, DNA filter; O2, AI, Airbox baffle, EVAP removed, Up-N-Over, Pivot Pegs, Ventura rack.

Past: '83 Honda XR500; '84 Honda XL600; '86 Yamaha XT350

looks like a seal for a multi pin plug especially since its that small.

Here's a better shot. All I can think of is it fell off the multipin connection to the EVAC canister when I was unplugging it.



WAIT A MINUTE!!!... look what else fell off my Scrambler!

Yep, it fits inside one of the connectors. =) Based on the size, I'm guessing it's the one for the EVAP canister. That connector (unless you unpinned it from the ECU like I did) should still be on your bike. Flip it over and see if there's a clean spot where a seal was.

I already wrapped the connector in shrink tubing, but it looks like it might be the right size. Hey, how hard was it to disconnect it from the ECU? Does it just plug in on the top side, or is it hard wired into the main harness?

Mm, you have to split the harness and run up one side to the ECU. The other side connects to a shared ground, and that needs to be unwrapped and the one wire clipped, then the other goes into the ECU. Pulling the pin requires you unclip the purple retainer clip at the back, then use a pin removal tool or a small screwdriver to gently pry up the plastic pin retainer and slide the pin out.

Pretty easy if you're used to doing such things, but not really worth it unless you're pulling looming for lots of other stuff, like, say, AI, alarm connectors and both O2 sensors. I'm super, super picky about my wiring, though, so if it doesn't drive you nuts like it does me, then I don't recommend it. =)

errr... I'll pass. I may have to re-install all that crap someday. After all, I do live in California! Thanks for the info!

i dont understand why you got rid of the O2 sensors?

does the bike not need them for proper air fuel ratio? whats the deal?

Did you remove a baffle from the exhaust system? Is that what that part in the top right hand corner is? HOw easy did that remove?
