My experiance"s with insurance companies over here is one of constant frustration, these companies are in the business of "not paying out", other wise they would be constantly going broke! I'm sure 'Triumph' have a consulting solisitor who advise's them on such things, they would weigh up the posable injuries against redesigning and implimenting the exchange of millions of units on existing bikes, cause if they now update the units, they would 'have to recall all the existing ones because that in itself is admitting that the existing units are inadequate in extream case's. And realy that is what an item like that should be engineered for.
When I was recently looking for a bike for my girl I settled on a F650GS so I did some searches, found out 'some' years had problems with forks breaking, so I found her one that wasn't in that batch, (you should "Google" it), a real eye opener!! It's full of people 'trying the sueing road, only to hit a brick wall!
And any way here in the wounderfull land of OZ, we, or at least us in old school, generaly take a " She'll be right Mate" attitude. LOL!
On a lighter note, back in the day I was kicking my Commando over (in front of a mob of mate's at the pub), and the side stand broke of at the frame, went arse over tit, motor going, every body cheering and yahooing, ' how embarrrassing, least no one was killed that day.
