Ok as promised my mini review and pics of my Mass Moto Mohaves. Go easy on me I'm not Forchetto.
As far as I'm concerned a high pipe system is the only way to go for a Scrambler. That said the options were pretty limited. Arrow 2-1, Zard 2-1, British Customs 2-2 mini cones.
Then after seeing pics and vids of the Mass Moto Mohave high exhaust system, I decided I really needed a set for my 07 Scrambler. Love the dual pipe/desert sled look.
I considered the McQueens as well, but since they had even less heat shielding I opted for the Mohaves.
Since I've never seen any Mohaves in the flesh, I was concerned about 3 areas. Build quality, leg clearance and noise.
I contacted Mass Moto directly and dealt with Giancarlo. The whole ordering experience was painless and I received this 7 working days after I made my payment (850 euros shipped). In addition to the exhaust, Mass Moto also sent me a couple of brochures, fist full of stickers and a cool Mass Moto T-shirt. (Unfortunately skin tight on me, LOL)
At first glance the whole system seems very minimal with few separate parts. However as a designer I appreciate how difficult it is to make things simple. This whole system was elegant and well thought out, install was easy.
There is a crossover tube to balance exhaust pressure. This closeup shows the beautiful welds and the spring connector loops.
Exhaust hanger bracket and mounting lug for heat shield.
Each system has it's own serial number.
Headers wrap tightly around the cylinders.
Header install is very straightforward. The only niggle is that one of the exhaust m8 nuts is not accessible to a torque wrench. I tightened it by feel. Other three nuts are correctly torqued. Remember to order up the Triumph copper gaskets and replace the M8 nuts if corroded.
Nice and tight. No leg clearance issues with the headers. However there is still leg contact with the front heat shield.
Parts kit. Shock hanger space, assorted nuts and bolts and the spring retainers for the pipes. The retainers are covered in heat resistant covers.
Two stage baffle system. The fist baffle is midway in the pipe and not removable.
This might be an issue if you want to ceramic coat.
Second baffle is is at the end of the exhaust pipe and removable. It is tiny. Here it is next to a stock muffler.
