installing slip-on mufflers - is high-temp gasket sealant necessary?
I noticed that the Dealer used some sort of white coloured gasket sealant when they installed my BC cocktail shaker mufflers on my speedmaster when I bought the bike new....
I have since taken the mufflers off myself and am in the process of re-installing them - is high-temp gasket sealant really necessary?? If so, what kind? The only one I could find at my local auto parts store was Permatex high-temp RTV RED gasket sealant....
Thanks for any advice. FWIW I've installed many exhausts on many different bikes over the years and never heard of or used gasket sealant before.
