I was also looking into switching from my stock bars on my '11 bonneville base and went into my local triumph place and asked about the Thruxton bars. They were saying that there was going to be a couple of hours to do it with all the cable changes and such but I assumed that there was adequate cable that I could just take off the controls and the grips, unscrew the bars from the clamp and put the new ones on and screw the controls on the new bars and slip the grips back on as well. I feel like they're not being honest with me as it really doesn't seem like it should take more than 1/2 hour at most. Are the Thruxton bars really that difficult that it would take that long and if so, are there similar bars I can get that a direct transfer without recabline is possible. I'd like to find some Cafe bars that I can just switch the controls and grips with.
