Tires for Cast Wheel, EFI Bikes.

I apologize in advance for asking about something that has been so much discussed.

But since so many of the tire threads end of as Avon vs. Metzeler discussions, and since I can see that many of the posters have tubes, I'm a bit confused as to how much crossover there is between spoked and cast wheel tire options.

Has anyone put Pirelli Sport Demons on an EFI bike with Cast aluminum wheels? If so, how did it go?

Or—am I supposed to stick with Radial tires on the cast wheels?

Also, if I increase the size of the rear tire to 140/80/17, should I also increase the size of the front tire to 120/70/17?

Not too much crossover, because you can get matched pairs of radials for the cast wheels - definitely the way to go. In fact, hopefully some of you will start posting your experiences with different tyres on the cast wheel bikes soon.

Some of you must have worn some out by now........

I've got the original stock Metzler tires on my SE. The rear tire is about gone but the front is still good. Dealer recommended going with Avon on the rear and keeping the Metzler on the front.
I've run different tires front and rear on other bikes without issue but are these two different types (ply vs radial) of tires?

Burgi,

Yeah, there are, evidently, very few radial options. I want to go to 140 on the rear, and I've been looking, and calling around, all day trying to find a matching set of Radials. If i'm willing to keep the stock sizes, I can keep the stock, German tires, but they don't have a 140 rear. If I want to go to 140 on the rear tire I either have to get bias tires, or I have to also go to 120 on the front tire--this is for Pirelli Sport Demons.

I ended up ordering the 120 Pirelli radial, and now I'm wondering if it will fit, or mess up my handling.

I thought these rims were going to allow for more options.
