Are the idle mixture screw and the pilot screw the same thing? The reason I'm asking is on the recommendation of Marc I made some small adjustments to my pilot screws, which really helped. It was a pain in the neck getting the "d" shaped tool in there to adjust them, and I remembered that New Bonnieville advertised idle mixture screws to replace the "D" screws. But on the America, the pilot screw is in a very tight location, and the knurled head of the screws advertised at New Bonnieville look like they would be too big to fit into the space available (because of the electrical connectors right next to them).
Question # 1. Are these the same screw?
Question # 2. If they are, has anyone purchased the idle adjustment screws advertised at New Bonnieville for an 08 America? and if so, do you have enough room to install them and use them to make adjustments.
no they are not the same thing. You do not "adjust" the pilot screw, you screw it in all the way. the D shaped tool you used was on you idle mixture screw. I have the hand screws from newbonneville and they fit just fine.
OOps, my bad. I think he said turn the fuel mixture screws, and I must have written it down as the pilot screw. He knows what he's talking about, and I'm still trying to learn enough to "tinker" with my bike and still stay out of trouble.
Do you have the electrical connections right next to the fuel mixture screws on your bike? There seem to be just enough minor differences between models and I have to double check things before moving forward.
