O.K.
I'll fess up!
On the way to work last week I was pulled over by a DPS Highway patrolman at 5:30 am dong 70+ in a 45 MPH zone.
:policecar:
I was traveling the service road parallel to I-10 as there are five exits and onramps closed due to highway construction. No traffic that early on the service road. Just me...
The ticket would have been a felony conviction as I was over 25 MPH the posted speed limit!
After viewing my CDL license he gave me a break and wrote on the ticket that I was on the interstate when he pulled me over, hence the "Waste of Finite Resource" ticket / warning.
He stated he didn't like writing tickets to truck drivers on Triumph's on their way to work! He loved the bike and said if I had been weaving in and out of traffic he would have thrown the book at me!
$38 dollar fine and no points! Last and only other ticket I had was in my cage back in '87...
He was a rider himself, personable, respectful and after the ticket we chatted and found we had friends in common!
Boy did I luck out!
P.S. I don't drive 70 in the 45 zone any more!
More like 84!!!
Ride safe everyone... (Not like me!)

Similar stories any one?

I was late to a Dr's appt a couple of years ago, driving in the cage, doing about 60 in a 45. I got pulled over by an Austin Police Motorcycle Cop. He saw the "M" designation on my license and asked what kind of bike I rode, and I told him it was a Triumph Bonnie. He said "I'm gonna cut you a break and write this for 50 in a 45" which was a lot lesser fine!

Nice guy!

Yes, If your over 25 MPH and / or if you have a CDL...
Felony, just like a extreme DUI...
Like a ton of bricks when your doing a ton in a 65 zone...

Least thats what the officer informed me, and I sure in the H_LL wasn't going to argue with him!!!
Yes officer, your full of SH_T!

I'll look up the ARS ( Arizona Revised Statutes ) and report back to you...

Sheet! Could you imagine the fine, point loss and record on a CDL license! No Traffic school to rid the points either!
Insurance rate increase!

OH well, Think I'll look for a job as a... (!)

Moving Radar Surprise

Flaco, in Sept I was riding solo from PA to WI. On my second morning out, I had just entered mid-state Indiana from Ohio on a long, straight 2-lane road, (cruising at 70) when an Indiana State Trooper passed me going the other way. He promptly whipped around and pulled me over - said I was doing 71 in a 55. We talked about where I was headed. When he came back from his car he gave me a written warning and started asking me about Triumphs and the Tiger. Phew.
I have since learned that PA is one of the few states where police may only work stationary radar. So the rest of the trip I stayed within 5 mph of the speed limit. Never know who's coming towards you with those excited electrons or light beams.
