I am considering a new t100 as my first bike. I found an opportunity to purchase a 2015 Bonneville with less than 100 miles on it. It is like new, perfect condition with an asking price of $5500. Thoughts on this bike? I have not been able to find much in the way of reviews as they all seem to be on the 2015 t100 instead. It looks like the bike retailed for $8.1k when new. I can swing the new bike, just thought if this was a good opportunity to get a like new bike at less than half the price that maybe I should consider. Thanks in advance. MC

I think that's a pretty good deal and I'd jump on it if you don't want the new water cooled models. Just to give you a data point, I'm in SW Ohio and watched the used market for awhile. I bought my '14 T100 with 12K miles on it last spring for $5800, which I felt was an OK deal, a little better than average, but not great and not terrible. I wanted spokes and it was also the Black model, which I liked and didn't see as often on the used market compared to the regular T100, so I pulled the trigger.

The AirCooled bikes have a lot of excellent aftermarket products available. Huge wealth of knowledge on mod tips/maintenance/repair can be found on this forum. These bikes are known. mature quantities...the issues have been dealt with years ago. You can perform your own fuel remapping and adjustments...the new bikes are much more locked down at this time with only the dealers being able to get in there.

2015

My odometer just hit 5k on the same 2015 Mag wheel bike. No issues. I like the handling better than the 2007 spoke wheel Bonnie I owned before that. To me, the water cooled bikes are a different set of bikes. More torque and more features. But my review of the Mag is positive in the two years I've owned it. Reliable, nimble, and good for two up riding. I did replace the front and rear suspension with Ikon shocks and added a Dart Marlin screen. So, I would budget $500 for that. Mike

Yes with the $$$ you are saving over the new models, you will have plenty to splash on upgrades. Highly recommend doing the pipes...some many excellent options (Arrows, TecBikeParts, BC Predators, NH Togas etc etc). Rear shocks also a very popular choice (Hagon, TecBikeParts, Progressive, Ohlins etc etc).

I have a 2014 mag wheel that I bought old new stock last winter. No issues. Closing in on 6000 miles. I've done front and rear suspension, replaced pipes, saddle, and cleaned up the front gauge/headlight, handlebars and rear fender. I love it to bits.

I guess as a new rider I don't fully understand the difference in the air cooled vs liquid cooled from a performance standpoint. I intend the bike use to be weekend rides for an hour or so and maybe a bit about town at times. It will it get a ton of use. It is intended to be more of a therapy stress reliever bike. I do like the idea of the the abs though on the newer ones. I won't won't be riding in bad conditions.

That's a good price.
Price and availability certainly varies from place to place and time of year.
I recently bought two '14 mag wheel Bonnevilles for the same price. One had 5,000 miles, the other 400. Both have upgraded Triumph seats and backrests. The lower mileage one also came with Triumph bags and windshield. They both purr and have lots of torque. Very happy camper here.
Just for an hour or so weekend rides, don't spend 9 or 10K, grab this one.

This is a great price on a superb motorcycle. You're buying a platform, if you will, that is just fine the way it is or can be modified any number of ways to make it your unique bike. I bought mine over 15 years ago and I've NEVER regretted it. Good luck and jump on that deal!

I paid $5,300 for a 2012 Bonneville SE with 550 miles in Aug 2016 and thought it was a good deal. Upgrades included gel seat, tank pads, and summer windshield. The guy hadn't touched it mechanically so I changed the oil, brake fluids, cleaned and adjusted the chain. Looks and drives like new for half of what he had into it.

OK, an update... seller finally contacted me and I have more info on the bike. It is a 2015 Bonneville (not a T100). It does have less than 100 miles. He bought it new last year and dropped it going 5mph while turning. He took it to the dealer and they went over the bike and he has them go ahead and replace the turn signal and the mirror. The only evidence of a drop at all is a very small scratch on the engine case that is barely noticeable. He never got back on the bike. Too intimidated. With that known, thoughts on it now? Ask price is $5500, he owes more than that, and the bike is still under warranty for another year through Triumph. What do you all think?

If you're looking to buy and you feel confident that what he told you about the mishap is correct then I'd buy at that price. Have you looked at what comparable bikes run? I haven't but I'd assume you'd have a tough time finding one with those miles, plus some warranty for $5500.
