Hi All,

I am upgrading and customizing my Thruxton 2009 EFI
I love this bike but I think there are many points that can be improved however I need a bit of support as I keep my bike in Italy whilst living in UK and because I really lack of experience

So far I have done
ARK
O2 removal
SAI removal
Fender removal
Back LED strip light
Front LED headlight
Front LED indicator
Back Bitubo shocks

Now I have made a list of things that I would like to change but I need a bit of support to understand what is feasible and should be done first. Any feedback or thought is appreciated!
- Front suspension replacement with Bitubo
- Replacing mechanical gauges with 2x SMITHS with LCD . What about the Tachometer though? Can I use the ODBII connection to get the value to the gauge ( eg as motogadget ) ? The problem with the Smiths is that they do not have engine and petrol light... any solution to this?
- I do not like the plastic switches and case on the handle bar. So I may replace them with buttons from motogadget hence using the m-unit and m-button as well. Any experience?
- Handle bar or clip on? What do you use?
- Motogadget M-lock. I love the idea to turn the bike on with a touch. Has anybody install it? Any feedback? Where have you placed the reader?
- Front / back floating Wave disc
- front and back 6 pot Pretech caliper. I understand the OEM master cylinder will be ok; otherwise which one do you recommend?
- front / back brake line (Hel or Goodrige )
- general harness tidy up

Sorry for the long post!
Francesco

I've done bitubo cartridges and they work quite well. Lots of how to guides here. You'll want an impact wrench.

For the master cylinder, you could get one from a speedy, like I did for the fronts. Made a big diff with aftermarket calipers. Vacuum pump helps for the lines, or speed bleeders. Mind you I was going from a scrambler master cylinder.

Besides the floating discs I believe the rest of your list is a matter of preference.

For the most part it would all look stock, but I'm not sure what the laws are in Italy about this type of customization. I know they are quite strict. I had a family member get in hot water with the carabinieri because he removed a restrictor ring from his exhaust.

good point for customization law, although I am not riding it that much, maybe 4 times a year when I am back to Italy.
Also I have the TOR fitted since the beginning: I have ridden from England to Italy and no one has stopped me for noise.
