T120 Inspiration Kit Tank Badge for T100

As soon as I saw the Inspiration Kits for the 2016 Bonnies, I knew I wanted to replace my old, crappy, plastic Tank Badges with those metal & chrome 4 stripe tank badges from that Inspiration Kit.
It took 8 weeks of patience and 130 Euros to get hold of them. What I didn't know was whether the tank shape would be sufficiently similar so the badges would fit. I mounted them today and they look fantastic (see pic).
In case that inspires some of you: all you need to do is to dremel off a little pin which is meant to fit into a tank bore hole on the T120 tank.

Would it fit a thruxton 900 tank shape?

What I really want if I could find one!

So for anyone with an air cooled thruxton, who also has an all consuming loathing of the plastic bits of crap Triumph call the stock tank badges...I can confirm that with a small amount of dremelling, the heritage badges for the T120 and T100 water cooled bikes, will fit.

And in my humble opinion, look 100% better.

I can sleep again!

Also de-badged the ‘Thruxton 900’ off the side panels.

Part # A9790070. Picked up one from Triumph/Harley Heaven in Sydney for AU$132.

I found a set of the Inspiration badges here in Tucson at the dealership, amazing and priced at $105. A question for those who've mounted them, is the attachment simply a peel & stick, which seems to me a little dubious unless they're plastic. But does that mounting method seem secure once applied?

Thanks!

Mine are well secure.

Dremel the pin off each one, then just a thorough degreasing of the tank and they stuck like **** to a Persian rug. ?

Crushed hopes on the 4 bar badges for carbed bikes. The local dealer had a set of A9790059's, the only part number he showed as currently available and they clearly have the wrong curve for a carbed tank.

Dang! My guess why they fit the EFI bikes is the 'fatter' tank they have, but they sure are good looking when installed.

My feeling was that once the peg was dremelled off, (and I couldn’t be 100% sure the profile would be right either), that the material could have been lightly modified with maybe a bit of heat applied, and/or slightly thicker 3M fixing strips.

In the end I jiggled them around until one was as close to a perfect fit as possible, then just matched up the opposite.

I’d say give it a go...make it fit! ?

Thanks for the encouragement Jarvyboy, but when I hold them close to the tank 'allowing' for the pin there remains quite an uneven gap, with the last 2" of the 4 bar curving in abruptly. I'd thought maybe of using a heat gun on it and doing some gentle bending, but despite their surprising weight and being some type of metal, I can so easily imagine the pot metal or whatever simply cracking.

I'm gonna wait until another carby guy with more stones does some 'adjustment' before risking it myself. But dang they're good looking!
