Would you buy this '14 or that '15?

Test rode the '14 yesterday (870 miles on the odo) and the '15 (3 miles on the odo) today. The bikes are at two different locations of the same dealer.

Price on the '14 is presently sits at $6,999.00, and the bike has bags and a rack. The price on the '15 is at $7,699.00 with no accessories.

Sales Mgr on the '15 didn't seem to eager to move off of that price, but I'm guessing I could get at least a couple hundred more off along with the BS fees that he quoted me.

Sales Mgr on the '14 seemed a little more eager to deal.

Here's my question, and really the main issue that I'm concerened with...how hung up should I be on the fact that the '14 only has a bit of warranty left, while the '15 has a full warranty?

I know that the Bonnie's are pretty solid and reliable; however, should I be willing to pay more for a new bike with a full warranty?

Thanks in advance for any advice/feedback.

Thanks for the input, my friend. I know what you mean about 'cumbersome' however, the bags and rack are two very nice accessories to have for when the girl and I want to make the occasional one- or two-night jaunt somewhere.

Truth be told, based on my own persona butt dyno, the silver one actually felt a bit quicker.:wink2:

Thanks...I actually think the value of the bags and rack are more than $300.00, based on what I've seen on the various aftermarket sites. I may be wrong.

Not sure how much lower they'd go on the '14. I may be able to get a couple hundred more knocked off.

From experience I can say that prices of left overs or used bikes can and should be vigorously negociated. The dealer is selling all new redisigned models if they are Triumph dealers at any rate these bikes may linger far longer that wanted. Offer slightly over stupid, let them sweat, they have a potential buyer sitting in their showroom they will do some running around with the old "I have to talk to my manager" routine. PS. I prefer the less complicated air cooled Bonnevilles.

Did you ask the dealer what the end of the warranty date was on the MY14? The 2 year warranty doesn't start until the bike is first registered so if the bike was just sold last year and then traded in, you may get more warranty then you expect.
I have a 2013 in black that is identical to the 2015 you are looking at. For the price and difference, I would go with the silver.

I dont really know the bonneville line that well, but my most recent obsession in bike is the abs offered. Do both bikes have it? Do either offer cornering abs?
If there is a difference here that would make my decision. ABS cant reasonably be added, bags and accessories and 300 bucks here and there is nothing over the life of a bike.

(recently = watching my buddy highside after panic braking without ABS, and my feeling the rear ABS activate when a car pulled out infront of me. I had 0 decrease in control)

I'd go with the '14. It seems like the better deal. I'd use the lack of warranty concern as bargaining to either get more off the price or get them to offer a labor warranty through the dealership in the event of a defect.

I once had a BMW dealer offer that (if something failed within 1yr/12k miles, I'd just pay for parts and they would comp the labor). See what they are willing to do.

When I first read this I thought it was Lodi California, no Lodi Ohio.

Either or a good deal really.

One thing about the air cooled bikes, we know they are about as bullet proof as it can get. Those water cooled models are standing on the shoulders of a giant. I'm understanding the price increase and it's probably justified on those water cooled bikes, only it really makes the air cooled models just that much more of a better buy over the water cooled models. Heck you can buy the air cooled versions right now almost a little over half the price of the water cooled model.

If on the market for a new bike and my 2007 about worn out, I'd go for one of these clearance sale air cooled bikes myself.

My only concern that replacement air cooled motors will sky rocket about the time I need one once I hit 200,000.

Depends on TNA dealer incentives at the time, so with the new bikes being hot and little inventory of earlier bikes lying around, incentives may be far less than last year.

The black paint will be a bit harder to keep nice looking. The black Triumphs I've owned tended to swirl, and needed waxing more than I'd like. That said, new is nice. But the silver bike has very low mileage, accessories, looks nicer (I think), costs a few bucks less. If you really want warranty, ask the dealer if the silver bike would qualify for an extended warranty. Of course, that would raise the price! Hell, I'm no help at all....

Thanks for all of the feedback, everyone. I'm still working on the sales reps at the dealers; however, the sales guy on the '15 doesn't appear to eager to move on the price or adding any accessories. It's not quite the end of the month, though, so I may wait until early next week.

I am leaning toward the '14, though.

RUPNOK...I did see that bike during one of my initial C-list searches. It's definitely on my radar.

Between the two I would personally go with the silver '14 model. I think the silver w/ black motor just looks better than all black. Black is oh so popular these days and much over rated IMO. Also very hard to care for just as triumph900 said.

BTW, those bags and rack are Triumph accessories and would set you back $800 if you were to purchase them new from the dealer... https://shop.triumphmotorcycles.com/accessories
