Just installed D and D full exhaust on my 2014 Mag Wheel Bonneville today. Thought I'd post a couple of pics for those that may be interested. The polished pipes are kinda hard to find pics of. Install was very very easy. Already mapped for aftermarket pipes with airbox removal kit. I repacked the exhaust right away with Bristol Core spec 31 as Ive heard the stock packing was a little too raspy for me. Muffler is pretty much hallow anyway so its still loud but doesn't have as much of the echoed raspiness.

you will love them but no need to repack them they are not raspy like the older d&d slip on.had them on my bike for a few years now.The headers will turn a gold color with time but you can make them look back to new with some blue job polish.

Thanks for yours. Took it out for a longer ride today and they are perfectly loud but by no means obnoxious. I did repack them anyway before actually installing them but probably didn't make that much of a difference. Couple of things I've noticed, 1) not much difference in torque to my old dom touring and 2) feel more horsepower as I hit higher rpms quicker. As for install, was bit surprised that it only has two areas to bolt on the full system, at the head and the rear peg. Mind you, they are significantly lighter than stock headers even with aftermarket slip ons.

Mikeinva, would like to see more pics of yours and others as well. Not a lot of love that I can see for the this system, which I think is the best value of most if not all exhausts (compared to other full sys and slip ons).

Best answered by those that have dyno'd.
I have not.
Maybe mikeinva will chime back in, he has dyno'd the system I believe.

But ................
If I recall correctly ...........it is a approximately 5bhp gain over the Stock headers w/ D&D Reverse Cone Slip-ons.

I did a number of other things at the time of the Full D&D Sys. install ............. cannot single out.

The "looks" and "sound" are enough to justify (IMO), the bph bump is just frosting..... but cumulative.

Happy New Year!

I ran these pipes for a number of years...just pulled them last spring to fit the D&D 2 into 1 system. The only reason I traded them out was morbid curiosity on how much more RWHP the 2 into 1 adds...

My initial review is here:

http://www.triumphrat.net/twins-talk/160678-d-and-d-553-24m-initial-product-review.html

In the end, the full D&D system took me from 73.5 RWHP (stock thruxton headers/D&D cans) to 76 or so RWHP once I got over the tuning glitches. The flow through the full D&D system is much greater than any slip ons added to the stock headers and, as such, requires much less main jet. How to move on tuning isn't clear until you fit a AF gauge in the header...don't try to get AF readings out of the tailpipe because the 'muffler' discharge is too big to avoid reversion/falsely low AF readings. I wasted a bunch of dyno time making that mistake.

Anyway, glad to hear you enjoy your new pipes...

Cheers,

--Rich

Thanx for that Rich, hopefully it is helpful for the OP.

Was your gain with the 2-1 system similar, versus the 2-2?

Mike has indicated an improvement over the 2-2.

As it is ............. I appreciate the look of twin pipes (aesthetics over performance ....... the little I expect it is).

My local dyno shop closed last spring, so I can't give you a dyno number yet...the only dyno in town is sans an operator. Scott the dyno man - who formerly worked at the closed shop - has talked his new employer into installing a dyno and should be available for runs sometime this spring. Stay tuned <pun intended>.

Mike is spot on in his post. The 2 into 1 makes less in the bottom/midrange, but feels like a 2 stroke coming onto the pipe at around 5K rpms or so. I had another rider - who knows our machines inside and out - that I was running ahead of on a ride last fall ask me if I had a 904 kit in my bike. So I'd say it gets on it pretty well once the rpms climb...

YMMV,

the 2into 1 cant be beat as far as high rpm hp .MY bike makes about 5 more hp with the 2 into 1.
The 2 into 2 makes better mid range and low end and the looks and sound are the best.
Dominator sports or preds with thrux headers are only a few hp behind the d&d full system but they don't look or sound as good to me. bonnie headers with any slip ons will give up maybe 5 hp to the d&d 2into2 and maybe 10 to the 2into1.part of what makes the d&d better is there headers bigger tube but the first bend off the head is a lot like the thrux header.

There ya go ........ teamwork.
Thank you both, Mike and Rich.
Both good looking scoots!

OP should be getting his money's worth.

I prefer "Shiny" exhaust .......... but that 2-1 looks better "black". IMO (tomorrow I may feel differently).
Blends into the background better (frame). Tucked under clean.
Right rear wheel looks naked though. LOL

The exiting on the left would go well with a Hack (RS Mounted). But the lower power curve of the 2-2 would perform best for a Hack.
Not to mention, less noise would suit a hack better as well.

The D&D two into one is my favorite exhaust. I love the noise but its mild steel and rusts very easily. I've been contemplating getting another but would instantly get it ceramic coated as the rust comes through that black very easily.

I now run stock headers with adaptors for shark silencers. I got the shark high exhaust for a good price second hand and just removed and used the silencer as slipons and they make almost as much as the 2-1. I still have the headers, should probably sell them on. Anyway here are my custom shark and stock header combo.

thinking of a left exit for my 12 mag wheeler due to a soon to be installed sidecar. i upsized my tyres a bit but still concerned with ground clearance, but since there will be no leaning it may work. i am very partial to stainless, 300 series please, no fuss no rust!! knowing D+D reputation it could be too loud for my passengers but ok for me

I repacked my D & D 2 into 2 system after about 12 months of use, "raspiness" is somewhat reduced as a result.

Awesome ride and fantastic exhaust post. Some, if not most, get distorted with wind noise. Coming from another 2 - 2 D&D owner and as much as one can on a video, those are great samples of what the bike sounds like.

Good sound video.

I had the old slip on D&D's back from like 2004 on my Thruxton. Had to re-pack those since they were really too loud for me.

Looks like things improved for the better since then with this new full heqder system.

I've got a set of Preds on now which I end up having to insert 2 inch internal baffles inside of because the noise level was getting to me on back roads on and off the throttle, the over run tired me out.

Plus the last couple years I've been doing long trips with the bike, interstate work, you need sanity with that type riding, 600 mile days can get to you with loud pipes.

I also have a set of the Slip-On's", and the 2-2 System.
There is not a "huge" difference in the Decibel level of the two.
There IS, a difference in the Tone ........ and performance.
Between the two, and each one versus the stock cans.

I am playing with a Side Car on one of my bikes.
I have resorted to the TOR's for the Sidecar Rig.
Purely from a Decibel level stance.
It would be "cruel" to subject either my Dog, or any other Human occupant to THAT level of sound ........... only 24" from there left ear.
The Sidecar Rig is all about "enjoying life at slower speeds", so the added performance isn't a requirement.:wink2:

As to the "Video" Sound ................ I have yet to "Hear" a rendition that does justice to the Decibel level of this system.
Every Video I have watched claiming "this is what they sound like" ......... has the Camera pointed Forward, closer to the Front of the Bike.
The sound comes out the Back.
A camera would be better placed pointing Rearward, and mounted near the Back of a given Bike.
The microphone's on said camera .......... aim forward, in relation to the camera.:wink2:

That said ........... at some point I will "pack" the D&D Slip-Ons, and see how much it helps with the Decibel Level.
Being a Straight through design ......... I expect it's affect will be nominal.

600 mile days on these bikes would be tiring enough with stock pipes, droning in a straight line at the speed limit on the interstate.

After 3 or 400 miles - always riding as little as possible on the slab - I'm ready to shut 'er down and have a beer. And riders I meet are usually surprised I ride that far on a naked bike.

A really long day with really loud pipes on a naked bike is for masochists and the already hearing impaired.

beside wanting a lower sound level for my sidecar passenger-s it seems my Tec 2-1 may interfere with the lower front mount, even the OE headers look close for mounting my motorvation spyder purchased from SCBonne on this forum, he had it on a 2003 T-100 + mine is a 2012 maggie. time will tell as i am putting new bias tyres on the bike + "car". a reasonable sounding right side exhaust would be great + prolly fix both issues

Tom-SCBonne did not mention being interested in another hack, i mentioned buying his good looking matching Bonnie he had used for a tug, said the Bonnie was a keeper. Tom was very good + helpful during the transaction, i had the "car" shipped but would have been good to meet him.

#32 ·
bscott, i am not far from you in the shamokin area, wondering what bike + "car" you are using. if needed FreedomSidecars is located 35 miles from me + Claude is as good as it gets for help or anything needed + is not looking to drain your $$$, he has a web site with a phone #, check out adventurerider-hacks as he is active there

Good'ay neighbor!:wink2:

SC "Tom" is a good guy!
You got a nice Hack there, in his. He sent me a pic of it.
He was kind enough to advise me on side car "stuff".

I have seen Claud's name bantered about.
Also recall reference to him being a "good guy" ......... thanx for the reference.

I am utilizing an old Easy Rider.
Reworked it a bit .......... with a little to do yet.
I do have it road worthy, now.
Put 120 miles on it last weekend .......... getting myself used to it before subjecting a passenger.
Quite a bit different, but VERY FUN!
Not difficult to drive ........ just different, with a little more care needed.
And I thought "just a Bonneville" got the looks!:wink2:

My adjustments are good.
May try a tweek here, and there ......... to see the effects, but it runs true. With similar "Torsion Pull" to the Right, as compared to the Left pull from hard Braking.
As I mentioned, I do have some altering to do yet ........ but it will do fine for this summer. Safe, Secure, and not quite ugly. Then a little more work, and a repaint next off-season.

Do you ever come down for "First Sunday" in Ephrata?
If you do, let me know ........ I will make a point of finding you to say "hey!"
If it works out, Great ......... if not, so be it.:wink2:
I will PM you my number.
A phone call, or a text, will suffice.

I don't always make it myself.
Life can sometimes intervene.
Although I was the ONLY person that made it in February.
The previous month, January, there were another 11 individuals that showed up besides myself.:grin2:
