How about a thread for pics and quick descriptions of the day's ride?
(But not necessarily a full blown RR of your summer vacation.)
We have the "what did you do to your twin today" thread for mods and maintenance, why not post a shot of where you were on your twin today. Maybe all you did was ride to work, maybe you were out working the "photo game" thread, or? If you took photos post 'em up!
It should be fun to see what everybody's typical riding areas look like!
I went for a ride on the Peak-To Peak today, with a little side trip up the access road to the Eldora ski area, and back to town through Ward...
Stopped for a shot from the ski road, looking toward the old town of Eldora, hidden in the trees up the valley...
Took a bee to the temple, then stopped to take this shot...
Went for a bank holiday ride to Hunstanton yesterday. The weather was lovely and it's the last bank holiday of the summer so it seemed like the perfect thing to do.
Went for an ice cream and when I came back I found this old Bonnie parked next to my bike.
Couldn't resist the photo opportunity!
A LOT of bikes out yesterday. On the way home the traffic from the North Norfolk coast was solid all the way to Kings Lynn. This is where I appreciated the bike, trickling past the almost stationary traffic. The last fourty miles were just about clear of traffic so I was really able to appreciate the changes I made to my bike a few weeks ago. Open flow exhaust TTP Breathe air inlet, free flow filter, baffle removal, and a professional tune make the bike really fun to ride now.
I was worried that my new exhaust was offensively loud but yesterday my brother (a fellow Bonnie owner) went with me to Hunstanton in his open topped Vauxhall Astra. I overtook him a couple of times and he got close on the roundabouts. He says my bike isn't too loud at all but when I accelerate away from a roundabout he says it sounds absolutely beautiful.
In his opinion it's not the loudness that makes pedestrians turn and look, but the tone. Its reassuring to hear another view.
I rode to get a haircut. Fifty five miles each way, and 35 of the 55 miles were on some of my favorite country roads, lower Foothill Rd, Calaveras Rd, and Felter/Sierra Rd. Lots of turns and no cars. Had so much fun going out I came back the same way.
Some friends and I set aside every Thursday evening to ride together. We had a great ride tonight. Some rally nice weather, roads and scenery. Stopped midway at a lakeside campground to shoot the bull for a while, then capped off the night at the county fair where I bought a couple jars of the best local honey I've ever tasted!
My low fuel light came on just as I was pulling into the garage. 126.9 miles. Should have taken some pics but was having too much fun.
California is most definitely a great state to ride motorcycles in...on my trip to the west coast in July, after having not been there in a few decades, it was as awesome as I remember. What state can you ride from the coast, over the High Sierras, and end up in the desert in the same day? Truly a wonderful and unique experience...
Bucks County backroads and then a blast along the Delaware north of New Hope. I love how the temp drops in the shade along the river. Rain on Weds cleaned up the road and there is lots of new pavement. Here is a pic from Peace Valley reservoir. I saw a snapping turtle and a very big snake.
Absolutely. The ride was all one could ask for till it started raining at coal slide? pass. Between the rain, the dark, the insane curves populated with deer, cows, and some sorta big furry critters. I needed a prybar to get the seat out of my keister when I finally got to the bottom
When I rode the Iron Butt Rally in 3 weeks total on the road I covered 17,000 miles with 6000 of it in the rain. Hardcore riding in nasty weather builds character in spades. Of course growing up in Alaska if you didn't ride in bad weather you didn't ride.
Yesterday (08/31) I rode the wheels off my SE in the mountains of East TN. A good riding buddy on his TT 600 track bike and I rode down to McCaysville, GA via TN 360 & TN 68 to hook up with a group of Triumph RAT riders out of Atlanta. Then back up TN 68 to Tellico Plains for lunch. After lunch we all rode up the Cherohala Skyway to the NC state line for some photos. A fine time was had by all.
Cool! Some of us in the Blue Ridge Rat were in the same general area yesterday.
We left Myers Triumph, Asheville, NC, about 0730 and wound down thru Hiawasee and some nice twisties and ended up in Clarksville, GA for lunch. The afternoon was more back roads, then after parting with two of the group (who had some home business to attend to) in Franklin, NC, we wound our way over Wayah Bald to Nantahala Gorge then up thru Cherokee to the Parkway and home. All told about 330 miles for the wife and I.
Gorgeous day with some quick, cool rain showers in the afternoon. A nice mix of bikes, too, consisting of 2 gorgeous Bonnevilles (mr and mrs simplespirit from the forum here), 1 Thunderbird, 1 nicely modded Scrambler, 1 1200 Tiger, 1 800XC Tiger, 1 BMW F800ST and me on my CB1100. Actually, there were quite a few bikes out and about, mostly HD and cruisers, but I did count about 10 or so other Triumphs of one flavor or another at various points in the ride.
Cool and foggy to start:
Warmed up soon enough:
lunch break:
Last stop before heading home:
Anyhow, nice day with some nice bikes and some very, very nice people!
The Mohawk river bridge was built in 1903. This replacement was built in 1938 for the grand sum of $2400!
48 of these reminders of a bygone era remain in Oregon. A tour through the area to visit the
local Covered Bridges, makes for a great day ride.
Took a trip from Edmonton to Rocky Mountain House Alberta today. A 500 Km. round trip. Have discovered that 500 Km. is a little long for the first long trip of the year. If my dream of visiting The Barber Vintage weekend is to become reality I'll have to put in some good training runs to be able to work up to the 700 to 800 Kms a day needed for me to get down there in a half decent time.
Barber Vintage is lots of fun, the swap meet stuff is endless. Edmonton to Leeds is a haul! October in the south has some beautiful weather hope you do the ride.
