So, today Vicky had to get on the bathroom-scales. Not the sort of thing a gentleman is supposed to make a lady do, but anyway. And before any of you start critizising - I know very well that this way (one wheel at the time, then the sidestand) of weighing a bike is all but accurate.

Anyway, with the (enlarged) petrol-tank far from full (guess it will take 10-12 litres more) the total weight of the bike was:

187.4 kilograms !

Not bad, huh? And this is even though I recently had to add almost a kilo (dealer didn't have a 520 kit for me when I needed to change the sprockets and chain, so I had to go with the stock, heavy 525 sprockets (and Gold DID-chain)).

So, to all of those that make fun every time there is talk of weight-reductions, and write stuff like "just drop that next hamburger, mate": it is possible to loose a lot of weight on the bike. Some of it by using ti and alu nuts and bolts

I have fitted Arrow 2-2 exhaust, alloy rims,ebc front disc, lucas style tail lamp, mini indicators and other parts which have lightened the bonnie a fair bit, although I havn't got round to weighing it yet. The down side is that it feels like the centre of gravity has been raised. I will fit a lighter battery when the oem one is done and I am always on the look out for lighter replacement parts. But the really heavy parts are the frame and engine/transmission and it is difficult to do anything about them. I put down a deposit on a JMC swing arm, but never received it, the man is a liar and a thief, which is a shame as his work is first class. I agree with you about the hamburger comments, lightening the bonnie makes it easier to manhandle if nothing else. If anyone is fitting replacement non oem parts perhaps they could weigh them against the original and report on this site, for instance the ebc disc is about 1lb lighter than the stock one.
