I think there's a good case for keeping the Thruxton. While it's priced right at the upper end of the Bonneville range, I think there's a lot of people (e.g., myself) who see the Bonneville as too sedate or 'standard' (ignoring the identical performance) but who can't spring for a $10,000 plus MSRP this new bike will probably carry. If my Thruxton hadn't come in well under 10k including tax, prep etc. I'd probably be riding (and hating) a Sportster right now.
Then again, Triumph has about run out of colors to paint Thruxtons!
We should thank Triumph for listening to those of us who wanted a better performing retro-bike. My bet: better brakes and suspension, maybe another overbore, ABS (?) but still no sixth gear.
I can't see the factory dropping the Thruxton considering the current cafe racer fad. If they drop a model to make room for something noticeably different, I'd say it would be one of the current mag wheel models. That's not to say the new model won't have mag wheels.
