Really the cheapest way to get more power and speed is buy a good used bike that is made for speed and power. I don't mean that in a smart azz kind of way either. After 35 years of riding I have seen people waist untold sums of money trying to eek out every last little oz. of power from an engine that was not made to do much more than it does. I see those guys at my ZRX forum pay more for engine "upgrades" than I could buy a good used bike for. In my opinion if it looks, rides and sounds good just ride the dang thing and quite worrying about other peoples stuff.
This may bring up another very good topic. How fast is fast enough for you and your 865cc Triumph ? For me its 100mph but I'm more of a touring guy now days. I only jump on my ZRX when I get in a mode
