I ordered some Oberon footrests for the Thruxton yesterday, to replace them after snapping one off...when i fell off.
Anyway, today i nipped up to my mates workshop, where i'm repairing the damage to the Thruxton.
The handlebar clamp bolts were replaced with stainless ones, same with the brake and clutch clamps, plus the two that hold the front indicator bracket to the bottom yoke.
When i dropped the bike the other week, my girlfriend broke the rear light unit with her backside as she came off.
No actual damage as such, although it took us nearly an hour to get the unit back out of her arse (only kidding, couldn't help meself).
The three small self-tappers that hold the main light cluster to the rear indicator bracket, went back in ok.
Today, i thought i would put the rear light and indicators back on the bike, so the metal bracket that holds the lot to the rear mudgard was removed, so i could give it a good clean before replacing everything...i needn't have bothered.
The bracket, which in my opinion is nothing more than a piece of sh1te, that looks like it's been made out of a feckin' baked bean tin, was too rusty to put back on the bike, the paint is just flaking off, have Triumph heard of primer ffs?
It seems like the paint has just been applied over bare metal, so this just confirms that i'm going to have to do what Triumph should have done in the first place, powdercoat everything that they have tried to paint.
Not really good enough is it?
