What did you do to your twin today?

The Classic triple forum has a thread for daily modifications and shop work. Lets get that going for twins as well.

Today I lowered my T100's rear brake lever. I took the pin out, the master cylinder off and adjusted the bucket and locknut. Now I won't be beside my brake pedal on that bike, I can be above it, ready to use it just a tiny bit quicker.

I also painted the worst-off gas cap I had, black. So I can ride on sunny days without being blinded by my own bike. - my sun visor is in the helmet, and comes down from the top so I get nice glare off the clocks and tank... :(

New HH pads front & rear and bled the brakes with new DOT4.

Feels great to have tread and brakes again!

Now to get the RaceTech springs installed and dial-in the suspension.

Removed my really nice looking Emgo "glass" fuel filter and will never go back to it again after it came apart and poured out from the tank, down on to the engine and pooled up fuel on the garage floor.

Recently, I had changed out the little mesh filter inside the Emgo and made sure to tighten up those inside and outside connections correctly. However, I didn't recheck and it looks like it went wrong after a few rides. Prob'ly my own fault it broke apart in the end, but now I don't trust the way they're built for motorcycles.

I have installed a larger-capacity, metal Duramax fuel filter now which will probably work even better and looks just fine all wrapped in black rubber and tucked up under the tank.

I feel that my bike's Karma was giving me a chance  as this happened while showing a friend my new Pingel petcock in my garage. I'd be screwed if on one of these hot, summer rides this would've happened with the story's ending being a burned up Bonneville with me on it!

wanted a low profile pop up gas cap but wanted brushed aluminum rather than chrome or black... so i found a beat up used one off a Harley from Pinwall Cycle on ebay for $16 shipped and stripped the powdercoat. Total investment: $16 + 20 min of elbow grease

from Pinwall:

After a quick sanding. (please excuse the dirty tank)

Got it buttoned up after I took the carbs off for cleaning and - lo and behold - it ran! Of course, it's still running rough, so I need to do some checking in the daylight...but I'm just stoked that it actually still works (first time delving into the carbs...)

Installed my BC FEK with smoked cat eye lens. Also installed the retro turn signals from BC in the front and rear (inside of shock mount so I did not have to remove the shock), black with smoked lens. 3 of the 4 signals are working, so today I will be trouble shooting the one that is not working.

Unplugged my O2 sensors. It's incredible to feel how much that changes the ride, even after reading hundreds of pages on the subject! I'm off to buy the kit to make this permanent after my 500 mile service.

This is my first EFI bike, and if it hadn't been for everything I read on this forum, I would have the left the dealership empty-handed after the disappointing, snatchy test ride.

Puig

Installed Puig mini-screen that my SHE WHO HAS TO BE OBEYED got for me on her recent trip to Germany. Only €19.90 (U$26), easy installation. Did a test ride - it takes some wind pressure off the rider’s torso; kind of hides the gauges, but frankly, I don't like the gap between the headlight and the screen.

I was riding around the by-pass yesterday on the Bonnie when I rode up behind a car. The driver pulled into the left hand lane. Then I noticed that there was a little girl with her head stuck out of the passenger window. As I rode up beside them, she was just staring at me with a big grin on her face. The guy driving just matched my speed for quite a while so she could prolong the enjoyment. The little girl just loved watching me riding in the wind. I have a feeling that there is going to be a new rider in about 10 to 12 years. I don't know if it was the sight of seeing someone on an older looking bike instead of a modern looking one or not, but there is definitely a different feeling riding a classic.

Disassembled the front end, cleaned and greased the steering head bearings, will reassemble it tomorrow. After nine seasons of only riding in nice weather, keeping it in the garage, and not washing it or using a pressure washer on it, the bearings were clean, well-greased, in good condition, and this didn't need to be done.

Noticed that I have a minor oil leak, looks like it might be the countershaft seal. That will be replaced in the next round of maintenance.

NGK Iridium spark plug installation to go with the Nology Hotwire Plug Wires I got offensively cheap off eBay. Thought this might just be farkle, but they seem to actually improve the boldness of the engine, adding unknown power particularly in the upper end of the tacho. range.

Balanced the throttle bodies as I noticed one of the pipes was a bit sooty and the fuel economy had dropped a little. Was only 100-200 hpa out so probably not related, but sounded a little smoother. Checked the plugs and they looked good.

Put one of my spare Carb tanks up on ebay if any aussies are interested.

Turned my brand new 2014 Matte Pacific Blue Scrambler into a completely blacked out monster.

Cost = $24.13 including taxes. One can of Plasti-Dip.

Underneath all that blackness is a perfectly preserved paintjob, protected until the day I peel off the Plasti-Dip :)

(Except for the muffler shields ... that's BBQ paint.)

Still to come: Arrow Pipes, better tires ... and more!
